Building my 56 gallon Column reef tank

fine, 3 weeks. Not like it will matter, the new shrimps will live now that they cant get eaten.
How long can a fire shrimp live in a sump without dying of boredom? I was thinking about keeping it for a small tank for later on. I know i wont be able to have any other shrimp in that tank, but it wont matter if the tank is small.
I have found my camera and will be taking photos of everything in there as well as a new video tomorrow. I think I will video it during the morning "flake" feeding as the wrasse flashes the most during that feeding. I have moved some of the rock work around so now there are many new caves and hiding spots. Should be cool! Oh yea, the bubble coral is huge now. I dont think it has really grown per say, just that when it opens up, it opens up really big. My wife said it has opened up larger than it was in the LFS that she got it at.
Edit: To satisfy my wife's need to have something blue in the tank, I spotted this beautiful coral on the site -> https://www.saltwaterfish.com/Nice-Blue-Ricordea-4-E_p_4917.html
From what I read about them, I can place them at the bottom of the tank as long as they are getting enough light. So with my lights, WavePoint 24" T5 HO 4-Lamp [Includes two 24 Watt Sun Wave (12K) Lamps and two 24 Watt Blue Wave (460nm Super Actinic)], and the 24" tall tank, would this be appropriate lighting for the coral?

The fire shrimp can live just fine in your sump or refugium section. My fire shrimp is in my fuge right now until I move and set up a new tank for him. He's behaved with other shrimp, but I'm not risking putting him with my cleaners in all my tanks.
As for the ricordea, they're very easy and you should be able to place it just about anywhere in your tank, as long as there is moderate light. I have orange ones in fairly high halide lighting that were once under PC's and they don't seem to mind the lighting one way or the other.
I saw your other post about those snails, I have no idea what they are.

So, what is the best way to catch this bugger? 2 nets at opposite ends and come together? I have a feeling I will have to move some rocks around to "destroy" his home and try to catch him that way.
Him, the fire shrimp, and a catalina goby, and some other small cold water fish in a small cube would be ok, yes?

its a small tank and there are only a few spots they can get to that I cannot see. Normally at feeding time they all come out to catch the crap that falls to the bottom. Well, tonight, only the fire shrimp was out and about getting food. He was overly agressive too. Chasing off the clowns, well trying to anyway. I think its the fire shrimp that is eating the other shrimp and his new name is going to be "trade-in"

I have a fire shrimp and two cleaner shrimp in my tank...the fire shrimp clean the fish just like he cleaner shrimp do, only with less pesonality. He wasn't chasing the clowns, he wanted to clean them. The dead shrimp were not eaten nor abused, you said so yourself.... so the fire shrimp didn't do anything to them either.

I was able to drop some food in the net and just wait for him to go in it when I moved mine.
That should work out fine, but how small of a cube are we talking?

the 2 dead pepps I found showed no signs of abuse. the 2 missing pepps are, well they are completely missing. Something ate them.

Food in a net should work fine, didnt think about that really.
One of those all enclosed tanks made by Fluval. I forget how large in gallons they are.
Here is a pic of the bubble coral all opened up at flake feeding time. The thing is huge!

and here is a video of the tank. Look it all the stuff in there! Oh yea, mister wizzard with the fancy video editing is not me. LOL

Its a sad day here for us. Relief that I dont have to catch him, but sad. Big Red has passed on. There were no signs of damage to him. He was acting normal last night at feeding time. The only thing that is wierd, if its wierd, is that he expanded his teritory and kind of left his house behind when the purple fire fish started sleeping right next door.
78 degrees
1.027 SG ( someone has been topping off with the salt water from the tub right next to the tank. Time to ask the "little helpers" who done it. Then again, it could be my fault as I use that water to thaw the food before feeding.)
7.8 pH
.125 ammonia ( its not zero and its not .25. It is closer in color to zero though)
0 nitrite
20-40 nitrate ( cant tell with this wonderful color crap again. )
The only thing out of the ordinary is that I havent done my water change for the week. I guess I will be doing that soon though. My thoughts on the ammonia is that the tank hasnt responded back to the addition of the purple fire fish. As far as other inverts, all the snails seem to be fine and the purple urchin has grown so large you cant miss him even when he tries to hide. Is it strange for the urchin to climb the glass? He was on the glass last week, twice. Now i have no idea what is going on in the tank with regards to the shrimp. Dont know what to do about new shrimp nor what to do with the tank.
R.I.P. Big Red.

So I was thinking about getting a pepp and skunk and a brittle star for my tank either tomorrow or sunday. Anyone see a problem with that?

1.027 (water change later today to make it 1.026 or 25)
pH 7.8

Sorry about big red, but he wouldn't of hurt your cleaner shrimp..The cleaner, Pepp and star are fine together.

Mine are best buddies and love to be handfed. I take a frozen cube and they come flying from where ever they are to eat out of my fingers and ride around on my hand. I <3 them too!
