I drive a Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX. The STI's are sweet. I'm trying to get used to the new front end and everything still. If you're interested in that type of car have you looked at the Mitsubishi Evolution yet? They're also very nice and about the same as an STI.

yea ive heard of them they look kinda like a evo or lancer and sti right? i like the eclipses too but hard to find a gsx with low miles. the sti has a 2.5L i do like that. my impala gets such shitty gas mialage it might get drove 200 miles/year if that. im looking for something that gets better gas for a somewhat daily driver. thats why i was looking at the sti. right now my daily driver is a saturn which gets good gas but it would be nice to have much more power and still get 1/2 decent mileage. in the summer when its nice out i ride the bike all the time. got all the power i want and gets like 50 miles to the gallon

The QX56 is as nice as it gets...I love it and it drives great.. I added a turbo kit to it and some horsepower... it puts out about 500 HP, and gets their quick.. Its a smooth ride a turns heads on the road...

Seannmelly, The Evo and STI are pretty close. They're both roughly 300hp both awd and turbo. The STI is a 2.5l and the Evo is a 2.0l. I've been in both and love them both. The nice thing about them is they're 4 door so they're practical. It's a pretty good grocery getter lol. They're also based off a rally car platform so the handling is really good. They're great in the snow, so is my gsx lol. They're sweet cars and if you get one I want to see pictures and if I'm ever in NY I want a ride lol!

Nmertz1, I was curious if the 22's on there look to small. You need to post a pic lol. I've seen a few with 26's on em and they look awesome. Only thing I'm concerned about is the ride might be a little rough with wheels that big. They're pretty rare out here. I've only seen a handful driving around. Wanna give me yours lol?

no.. they dont look small at all... I have bigger tires, not the real skinny tires make smaller rims way too small for a big car... I also didnt want to go huge with the rims becasue the ride would be more bumpy,,

yea i dont know if im getting 1. with the price of the car plus the money to get some more hp = alot of money. i can build a v8 car for less money but no awd which is a bumber. if your ever in ny i still have the impala to have some fun in,lol

Hmmm thats odd because the "Shift Shock" is about a tenth of a second in my car (nothing is done to my transmission to shorten shifts in anyway)... your foot and hand can't react that fast no matter how much you believe they can. Now that is my car, it will obviously be different in older cars or just other makes of cars with different trannys. Also, I'm talking about someone who can't drive because you seem to be missing the point. MOST PEOPLE CAN'T DRIVE A STICK AS WELL AS A PROFESSIONAL.
Professional racers can barely shift fast enough to see a 00.001-00.010 second difference if there is one at all. Now what starts to annoy me about this topic is my car was stock for about 3 months. During that time I raced 40 or more camaros and firebirds/trans ams (v8's) and have beaten anyone that was stock (while I was stock). I say that were stock because I lost to 1 SS Camaro which had every bolts on possible that beat me pretty bad. Now with that being said I noticed that most of them took me off the line but couldn't hold on during the shifting. Now I'm sorry but If I'm beating 40ish cars of the same type or better (SS's and WS6's included) while my car was stock then it pretty much proves a point. Even if a manual can outrun an automatic with a professional driver, most of the people can't race with that caliber. Yes maybe you can shift faster than an auto but that would make you fit in with about 5% of the population if its even that high. Now I'm not trying to come off strong I'm just trying to show you my thoughts. There are people out there who will win stock against stock in the manual. But the amount of people who can shift that well is very slim. Not even a mediocre driver can shift faster than an automatic.

LOL that reminds me of when a guy told me about how he used to drive a mustang but now he has a car seat to ride around with so he is driving an Evolution. STI's and EVO's are very practical for the power, decent gas mileage, seating, and all over space in general. The looks just seem to be a little too much based on catching a teenagers eye.

Depending on your size start with a 600, just keep in mind that these are fast machines, 600's are just more forgiving than say a 750 or 1000. The only thing to riding is riding with confidence and throttle control, of course skill but that comes with more experience. I must say though cars in no way compares to the feeling or speed of a bike..

i was thinking 600 but i didnt want it to be one of those bikes people see you on the road and be like his bike is weak...lol...i know i shouldnt think like that and that i should get something i can handle and small ESPECIALLY since I have NEVER ridden a bike before...lol....it is a good thing i will be able to find a bike at anytime with some perks cuz i will need them.....a friend of mine took a class down in florida for $300 and they show you how to do everything from drop the bike and basically just ride safely and what is best about it they provided the bike

I'd say it depends on your size. Once you get riding a lot of people do want to move up in cc's. In my opinion these are guys who love to go fast. A 600 will keep up with those bikes until you get into 4th-5th gear- over a 100mph. The 600's are easer to control and will beat a 1000cc around a curve(s). Don't worry what people say..people ride for different reasons, Most people start out small, and those that don't ususally regret it. Always ride in your own comfort zone and if others want to take off, just tell them you'll meet them there. 600's are nice wheelie bikes also...

Hey I have a question for any gearheads on here.
Im gonna start modding my Camaro and I am changing out the rear end gears and putting in a posi rear end with 3.73 gears.
Right now its running 2.73 / 250lbs of torque / 170hp stock
I know that changing to posi does nothing but how much of a HP/torque gain can you expect from changing gears?

No hp/tq will be gained but shorter gear ratios will always have faster acceleration.
Just like lights Civics with DOHC VTEC swaps with GSR or Type R trannys is decently fast with not much power needed.

there will be no hp/torque gain. it will just get you off the line faster. 3.73 gear is a nice gear thats what i run.

ok im done talking about autos ive had enough. the sti is nice but i think its a little pricey. with a little extra work they pump out the hp though and you have awd which is nice. i dont know if your calling me a teenager or ur saying that you being a teenager dont like the way they look but i have to agree. if they looked better i would own 1 right now

Heres a pic of my 2001 ZX3, I love this car and it gets washed and waxed every week. I haven't really done any big mods to the car except the shorty I put in. I want to put a cat back on sometime this summer but I am having trouble finding one that doesn't make that "I'm an idiot buzzing sound". lol I call her Black Betty.

Also I get about 27 mpg city and 32mpg highway! I love my 4 banger!

It's funny though when I get that mustang gt driver talkin trash then I smoke him off the line with awd and once the turbo spools he never has a chance. Usually shuts him up pretty quick.
nothing made me happier than smoking some punks in a mustang or camaro or even better the escort and cavalier and neon guys who for some reason think there cars can run...i am proud to be american but when it comes to cars you just gotta trust the foreigner who take a little pride in there automobiles
