It have to depend, heck, it doesn't take much to bruise my wife. Like if I flick, wham big bruise.. Me on the other hand, I've been hit with 80+ MPH baseballs, and no discoloration of the skin.

SAME here .....I bruise very easily...BUT IMO in that case you use an alternate form of discipline....otherwise everyone would say...OH they just bruise easy
then what do you do....swat them to find out....LOL

I like Az and Idaho's laws. If a mark or bruise lasts more than 48 hours then the parent can be prosecuted for abuse. After 3 kids, I know that a person never needs to spank hard enough to leave marks that last more than 2 days.

I think G. Anthony lied under oath about the affair. However, that lie didn't really relate to getting his daughter off directly. It did go to his credibility as a truthful wittiness, who was being blamed by the defense for what happened to Caylee (cover up death and thrown in the woods). So, if I were a juror, and believed that George lied about the affair under oath, then I might believe that the rest of his testimony was a lie and that he may have had something to do with covering up the child's death.
Cindy Anthony lied outright to save her daughter.
Both liars did impact the prosecutor's case. The jury never got a sense of who done it, or what exactly happened. Thus, not guilty.

I wonder why her mother changed her tune? she is the one who actually started all this when she called the cops and said the kid was missing...and then that she smelled a dead body in her daughters car....

Some people do weird things where their kids are concerned. I'd like to think I'd throw my kid under the bus if he did something like this but I guess you never know until you are in that situation.
My mom would call the police if she didn't hear from my kids in three days or so.

Down here, some grandma took her grandkid into the ER because he was a little bruised on the hiney. The mom, ended up getting jail time for spanking the kid...
These sort of stories can go either way but I know a lot of parents and kids get really hurt by overzealous people that think all bruises are child abuse. Me having been accused once before. Boy was I sweating and scared.

I am all for spanking if needed but if you hit the kid hard enough to leave a bruise you should be in jail.
If the hit was done in anger, I totally agree. My 10yo is a black belt now and we used to semi-spar. Teach asked where the bruise came from on her arm and she said dad hit her. Oh what a firestorm!!! Yes I threw a little punch at the same time she ducked into it and the hit was harder than should be but we immediatley quit and I was SO sorry and we put ice on it. She did not know what consequences could come by saying dad hit her.

Bet you she's got a reality show within a year.
Sick, sad, but true, but she'll get pregnant soon, have another one, and likely kill it off in about 3-5 years. Maybe then a jury can be found that'll do it right.......However she won't have a perverted, pedophile pile of sh!t, lawyer at her side on her true judgement day, and Hell awaits this royal b!tch.
Besides - WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF ANOTHER 16 PEOPLE LIKE THIS:

BEING FOUND IN S FLORIDA TO SIT ON A JURY?

I do not agree with this. This can lead to false arrests or the possibility of a parent losing custody falsely. My sister and her husband had to deal with child services and went through heck with them. My nephew was taken to the ER when he was 6 months old because he was screaming bloody murder after my sister touched his ear. She knew something was wrong and took him to get the ER. The wonderful doc does an exam and orders an x-ray of his head. The x-ray shows a weird shadow and the doc immediately calls child services notifying them they have a child in their care that has a skull fracture. Now, my sister does not have a diagnosis and is being questioned by child services. The doc looking at the films jumped to conclusions in this case, because when the neurologist came down he said it was not a skull fracture. It turned out that my nephew had cancer. My sister had to deal with child services for a couple of weeks in order for them to drop the case.

Seriously, I'll repeat the question, who is this lady and why does she matter? From the thread I gather she killed her kid. Doesn't this happen once or twice a day?

Very good point and very valid. I just like the fact that there are laws protecting parents who apply moderate corporal punishment. Before these laws were passed in the early 2000's, a parent could be prosecuted for abuse for any corporal punishment.

This young woman was out getting a tattoo and at a party drunk ..there were pictures of her stupid face at the party having a great time. The 2 year olds grandparents asked her where the child was and she said a sitter had her, time passes and the grandparents ask again becuase they wanted to see the child, mom made all kinds of excuses. Turns out the child was missing. The woman didn't care to look for the child, nor tell anyone she was even missing and there was no sitter, she made the story up.
So fast forward 6 months later after everyone had been asking questions and searching, the toddler was found in the woods behind the home, dead. Her mother said it was an accident, the child had drowned and she had put tape on the childs mouth to make it look like a murder.
the body was decomposed and they could not determine the cause of death, so the spokesperson for the jury said that not knowing how the child died they let her off and said not guilty.
That is the short ugly version...for 6 months, people were looking and asking about the whereabouts of this little girl. While her mother, who insists it was an accident in court, lets her little body rot in the woods. She was out shopping and getting tattoos and at a party and not a single tear, not an effort to look for her, nothing.
Yes Bang Guy...I agree, it happens all the time, how horrible. However I have never in all my years seen a mother that callous, I have seen women go crazy and drown the children, put them in a car to go under the lake water to be free to get a boyfriend, I have seen in the news how mothers do all kinds of horrible things. I have not seen a jury say not guilty because the little body was so decomposed that they couldn't determine the cause of death, and the mother was out getting a tattoo and not even telling people so they could look for the child. Who makes it look like a murder...and doesn't even at least pretend to care that a child was missing?

Guy, this is the murder trail of the century. Bigger than OJ IMO, looking at the public's reaction and the media coverage. You must never look at news! :))):
She obviously murdered her 2year old, but was determined not guilty earlier this week. She did get 4 counts of lying to police. Earlier this year she was convicted on check cashing fraud as well.
I hope she is released today. Let the public take care of her. She will be a hunted woman.

Looks like she got 4 years for lying to police but gets credit for the 3 years already spent in jail so she will stay in for 1 more year.

What a crock...you treat a two year old they way she did and go to jail for telling a lie to the police. Do you remember what the lie was?
I think it went something like...she's at the sitters, when police asked her where her daughter was.

I thought the same thing for Bernie Madoff, declare him not guilty and just let him go. Of course, it was a bunch of billionaires he pissed off...

Florida is going after her for the costs, the private search company is going after her for costs. That book deal rumor better be true or she's going to be paying on this the rest of her life.
