YES, I saw it last night...I can't believe though that there has to be a law like that though....COME ON ....NOT reporting your child missing should be a crime regardless.....

I'm not sure a law like that would prevent anything.
A law like that would not be meant to prevent committing a crime, but, rather, would result in a felony conviction if you get caught doing it. If such a law was already in place, then Ms. Anthony would not be walking free next week.
Such a law does make sense. People who kill their kids are not likely to report it. It is pretty easy to prove you didn't report a missing child, as opposed to capital murder 1 based on circumstantial evidence.

So kind of a second best sentence since it's difficult to prove a kid was murdered vs died accidently and was covered up. I guess I can see that.

What was the Dad found to have lied about? The affair? They better have something better than that freakshow who made the accusation.
These are the charges she was charged with a misdemeanor:
She lied about working at the Universal Studios theme park, about leaving her daughter with a non-existent nanny named Zanny, about telling two friends that Caylee had been kidnapped and about receiving a phone call from her.
My question is, how can the State of Florida sue this girl because of these lies? Are they trying to hit her up for the search costs the state incured? As for the court costs, she was found not guilty for the murder charge, which is why the court costs were so expensive. If you or me were charged with these four misdemeanor charges, the trial wouldn't have lasted 1 hour. You think they could actually get money from her because she lied about working at Universal Studios? Hope not. Otherwise, there's a WHOLE bunch of people out there that would be paying out money for fabricating their resumes.
I'm not defending Anthony's actions in any shape or form, but I think the state and this search team are going to have a hard time winning a civil case based on these misdeameanor charges. The state is going after her just like the Goldmen's did against OJ. They couldn't get him on the obvious murder charges, so they hit him in the pocket book. What's the most they could get? Half million maybe? She'll make that with her first 'exclusive interview' with The Star Magazine, or one of those other grogercy store tabloid rags.

Had Anthony told the story she did in court (through her lawyer) 3 years ago instead of lying there probably wouldn't have been the need for a trial.

The four lies resulted in law enforcement wasting nearly 6 months "searching" for a child that the mother told them was alive, since Caylee was not found dead until several months later. The lies perpetuated the belief that the child was living and needed to be searched for, which was not true, as the child died June 08. In the defense's court case the story was that the death resulted from an accident, which the mother covered up.
So, she is responsible for law enforcement wasting time and money searching for child, that the mother knew she was dead, and knew where her remains were located.
Since this case has become what it is, and the mother got away with murder, and everyone knows that, then the system wants retribution. If she makes movie/book deals, etc., then the desire is--not to allow her to profit from murder.

I can see 3 of the 4. I don't get how they could even give her a year for lying about some job. I haven't read the circumstances about that charge. Is it some kind of perjury charge that she lied during the murder trial? How would lying about working at Universal Studios hinder the search for her daughter?
Sadly, she'll profit no matter what. At this point, that's her only possible income. Who in this country would hire the girl? Her only option in this stage of her life is to 'disappear' to another country. Go be a bartender at some Caribbean or Mexican resort. I doubt I would recognize her if I ran into her in some resort in Cancun, Acapulco, or Cabo. If she does stay in the US, she'll have to look over her shoulder everywhere she goes. I imagine there's some radical that despises the fact she got away with murder, that may go to the extreme and do something to her.
