One day I will get out to the hidden reef...one day
today I am going to do a 10% water change on both tanks and then test some parameters...
But my question is:
When should you test your parameters? Right after the water change? Before??

I test right before and one day after. Gives you a chance to see if you need to dose anything, and one day after allows everything to mix well and to see if your dosing helped.
Calcium, Ph, Alkalinity, and Magnisium the day before. Anything I had to dose one day after plus nitrates.

Ah......patience has paid off and she now attempts to add fishey life to her beautiful reef tank. So is this one going into QT prior to placement in the display tank?
Pics of the creature please.

no QT...

But my patience has finally paid off....if you guys remember I had a fish with some ich that passed and I had to leave the tank fallow(?) for quite awhile. I know I should have used a QT after learning my lesson the first time....

However I did go to a more reputable LFS instead of the cheapo
So I will definatly post some pics as soon as possible. The fish is very active and not as timid as the first one I got. She is always in the front of the tank.

I got some frozen food when I got the new fish but I was wondering if some one wanted to give me some tips on how to use it.
I got formula 1.
Also, my two clowns eat the flake food all, should I even give them the frozen??? Will they get spoiled?
The only reason I even got it was because the LFS owner says they feed their livestock with frozen to make sure they are healthy or something to that nature.....

You should feed your fish a varied diet of different frozen, flake and pellets to ensure their health.

Feed them the frozen once or twice a week and only a very small amount like a quarter to a half of a cube. It is very "dirty" and will contribute to extra protein and nitrates in the water so I feed it sparingly especially since I do not have a protein skimmer. Pellets are another good alternative to flake as well as cyclopeeze. It is good to feed them a varied diet to make sure they get all of the vitamins and nutrients they need to thrive.

So do i just cut it up? Should I let it thaw in some of the tank water first and then drop it in?
PS...are you freaking out about board scores??? rj is about to lose it

For frozen food just thaw it in a little tank water the strain it out and rinse in a little more tank water. Seems like extra work but when the stuff thaws the juice that is there is very high in I guess nutrients that can contribut to pesky algae.
Oh yeah, I really like the six lines. Especially the green on their tail. Freaky looking fish.

Hey congrats on getting a fish in your tank... again.. too bad about the midas blenny, they are extremly hard to come by. I had a hell of a time finding one around me. I ended up paying $60.00 for mine at a lfs thats a bit pricey but they QT the fish for you and guarantee their live stock.. Post a pic when you can of the wrasse.

That would be fine. All you want to do is get rid of the juice and use the food.

I actually take the time and slice the formula 1 up into little cubes and just before I put it into the tank I add a bit of the tank water to my cup swish it around a bit and toss it in they gobble it up in under a minute. But the pieces are bite size for them that way I am sure they eat it all. But I also feed them cyclops and theres a frozen multi pack for SW fish that has 4 differnt types of food in it I always alternate with all of them. Seems to work so far
