True that!!!!
Back to serious talk....
I think that I am finally getting some coralline growth. I thought everything seemed 'purpler' but I wasn't sure. Now on the back of the tank there are specks of purple.
I need to check the parameters on both tanks and I do have pictures somewhere

You mean you are leaving us?

Parting is such sweet sorrow
Any chance you could leave us tomorrow?

Hey folks, Please get back on topic. This thread has gone on rather long, and is deteriorating rapidly.
Keep it tank related, please...or it will be closed.

Last night I checked all the parameters in both tanks.
the 14g biocube is as follows....
ph-8.4
sg-1.024/5
temp-81-82
no2-0
no3-0
am-0
calc-275/300 (still low)
and I can't remember the exact alk kh reading but I remember it being very close to what the results said was natural
now the 12g aga...not as good
ph-8.4
sg-1.026
temp-81-82
no2-0
no3-20!!
am-0
calc-300/350
alk and kh again I can't remember exact numbers but I know they are VERY low on the results
What can i do to bring the alk/kh up???

Baking soda, or they sell a product that does the same thing but that is pretty much baking soda with a few additives.

Do a test on your top off water or whatever water you use for water changes. For a while my DKH and alk were low and I traced it to my new DI filter. The water you are using could have a low alkalinity and DKH. You may have to buffer(add baking soda) you water. If you have ever read on here about people using Kalkweiser, that is because they are probably also using a DI filter.

maybe that is it, I will do a test on it....I just buy the same brand bottled(galloned?) water from the shoprite all the time.

Are you buying distilled water or drinking water? If drinking water that is a problem. Go for the distilled, a little more expensive, but so is having problems in the tank.
