Flower's Sump/Fuge Build

Wow, things are falling quickly into place...LOL...string and parts..so here is hoping it's completely stupid proofed.
Thank you Shawn for promising to be right there and with the cell number too.
After I get everyting and the sump here. Then I have to make up more saltwater, order the live sand, remove the goby. Remove most of the old sand and rearrange the rock afterwards, replace the sand bed with mostly live sand, mixed with old. Then take mostly old mixed with new sand and put that in the new refugium with contents from my in tank one. That should seed the new refugium nicely.
I want opinions…I know I will have to remove the corals to a safe tub while I putz with the rocks and sand…should I remove the fish as well or can they stay in the tank for all that? I’m thinking I may have to get the fish out too.
Then after the sand and rock are settled and the rock back in place …Then set up the new sump system. It looks like a full weekend project for sure.
What do you guys think of my plan?

Depending on how cloudy you think the water will turn, you might want to get the fish out of there when working with the sand and rock.

Well, I don’t think cloudy would hurt them, but then moving rock around wouldn’t be too safe, so your right, maybe it would be best to get them into tubs too…what major a job it’s going to be.

My skimmer is here and so is the overflow! The Eheim pump says it's shipped but has not arrived yet. That was pretty fast and I always go the cheapest shipping.
Wow, I thought the coralife was a big skimmer, this thing isn't as tall but it's a monster. Allot more heavy duty parts too. all I did was ceck packaging to make sure nothing was broken..but it all looked pretty simple to put together.

LOL..I spelled the word check wrong, well actually dropped a letter...now its there forever..oh well.
Anyway after I made sure everything arrived in good shape I put it in the garage..so I don't have to look at it, but I get peace of mind knowing it is here..it reassures me this is all really happening and it's not at a distance anymore.
It's my nature to get things a little at a time then put it all together. I had dishes, towels pots and pans and even rugs for my first apartment, long before I moved out of my parents home.

Alright, congratulations!
Did the pump come with different attachments for the top or just the one that is on it? Meaning, can you use different size hoses for the return? If so, is there any way you can get me a picture of those?

Yes, and it has a little knob on the side to adjust the water flow.
I just kind of looked at stuff to make sure all arrived without being broken and put it back in the box...So you want me to take a picture and show you what it came with...give me a minute.

LOL...I have no idea...I don't think so, unless it's the little dohicky right under the box.
It looks mostly like it came with stuff to attach it to the tank in different ways.

This part is labeled #9 Hose connection on the suction side (not a real good picture..sorry)

Ok. yeah that connector goes on the side where the water gets sucked into the pump. That's more or less just used for in line applications like if you were going to use it to drive a reactor or something. What I'm needing to know for sure is what size hose will fit the piece that's on the top of the pump. Got any spare hose laying around that you can try on it to see what fits?

I don't know what size it is...The only thing I can do is take it to a hard ware store and let them tell me. I looked at the book it came with but I don't see anything on it. I can't see well enought to count hose little marks on a measuring tape. The hose I have on hand here fits it..
So here is what I can do...
I have to take a nap, I worked last night and I have to clean the house and get ready for Sabbath. Before the Holy day begins I will make a run to the Ace hardware around the corner and have them tell me what it is. umm around 3:00..If you really need it ASAP I will go right now and take the nap after I get back...LOL..I will give you 10 minutes to answer this post or I'm going to sleep..

No I'm in no rush I was just curious. I'm pretty sure that 3/4 hose will work just fine.

I have 3/8 stuck in my head for my hose size...so I will check later and then get back to you. I want to make sure we all are on the same measures for connectors and hoses.
I haven't heard much from Shawn, he was waiting for acrylic last he told me any updates on the refugium, and we discussed smoke color instead of clear..the sump part is finished I think
.
Okay so now it's nap time...talk at you later....z z z z z z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z Z
