Well done Al and Slice...well done! Congradulations, Flower!
Standard 1" bulkhead should require a 1-3/4" hole. I'm not sure which ones Shawn used. A sch-80 may need 2". But I'm currious because by the looks of the measurement in the picture that Flower supplied it looks like 1-1/2"???

What your friend is going to have to do is get a 2" hole saw, but he will have to get a piece of wood of even a piece of the broken fuge/sump and drill two holes in it first. The bottom of the new 2" hole should almost be at the bottom of the 1-1/2" holes that I drilled. Once he makes the template he will have to clamp it to the fuge then use the template as a guide. If he tries to drill the holes with without the guide it wont cut good because the pilot drill in the middle has nothing to cut. Another way he can do it is take a strip of plexi, again from the broken fuge or sump and drill two pilot holes the same size as the pilot on the 2" hole saw, then double stick tape it from the back, this will guide the 2" hole saw. I will make a drawing later tonight. Maybe Shawn has a better idea. Not a big deal Flower.

Its a huge deal to me...I changed my mind, I can't even take a tiny chance with my sump. I love it just the way it is..
I'm going to go to the hardware store with the parts Shawn sent and get what I need in the 1 1/2 size. I can't do all of it, he custom made a few things but I can get it funtional. The refugium just drains into the sump, do you think 1/2 inch will make that much of a difference?

Thats what I though until I tried to fit the pieces in...they won't go..I went outside and tried the origianl and it went right in..I measured those holes..2 inches, 1/2 larger than I had Al make these..

10/4, I was just currious. The picture probably makes the measurement look slightly off a bit. Hopefully your friend can help ya out. If worse comes to worse you may be able to drop down one size on the bulkheads but hopefully you don't have to end up going that route since you already have the bulkheads and the pipes to go with them. I'm just happy to see it in one piece. :)

Not a big deal Flower!!!!! Several ways around the issue.....Partially my fault Al....I couldn't remember exactly what size hole saw I used. I have a bunch of them laying out on the work bench, and did pick up another 1 1/2" bulkhead I had sitting around, but nothing I had sitting out for whatever reason didn't fit it.
As Al had suggested would work making a jig of sort to enlarge, the holes, but probably the simplest and safest means IMHO would be if your friend has a dremel tool or RotoZip, with a sanding drum attachment. What I would do is take the bulkhead itself and place over top the hole already in the fuge, and take a marker and trace around the outside of the threaded area leaving a template of the bulkhead itself on the fuge, and then take the dremel with the sanding drum and enlarge the holes that way......Absolutely no pressure applied to the fuge, and would probably be a tad quicker.....I will post pics of the sanding drums for reference as to what I'm talking about.

Good idea Shawn, just make sure the bottom of the new 2" hole is almost at the same level of the 1-1/2" hole

I haven't heard back from him yet, but I have a little time before the sump arrives to figure it out. My boss at work is pretty handy he might be able to help.

You are very welcome Flower, I wish you all the best of luck with it, may all your nitrates be zero's and copepods be plentiful and everything else that is supposed to grow in there.
