How's it hangin' in saltwater world. See not much has changed.
Just got back from another Middle East/European Tour, and was kinda surprised at the change in gas prices. Guess I can't complain too much that I'm paying $3.19 down the street. I was filling up in Frankfurt last week, and paid $5.57/gallon US.
I see they lifted the moratorium on deep-water drilling today. Maybe that'll bring the price down a couple of cents (insert sarcasm).

Glad you made it out LOL!
Lifting the ban, if they really do, will help. Approving one well doesn't convince me.

Almost didn't. Vehicle about 10 cars in front of us hit an IED. Shook the windows a bit, but we didn't get any fallout. Gota love those Middle Easterners.

Gas is cheaper in the south. Deisel stayed a consistant $3.59 to $3.79 until I got to NY. Then deisel was $4.01. No wonder NY sucks soo much. Its price gouging. In atlanta I bought 3 packs of camels and a 20 oz for $3 less than I pay for 2 packs of generics up here.

How much of your local gas prices is state tax?
Most states link the tax rate to the price, meaning, when the price of gas goes up, the tax rate goes up.
How stupid is that? One of the biggest winners of high gas prices is state revenues.
Here in NC, we currently pay $0.3055 per gallon in TAXES.

oh thats just for actuaries, I think.... seriously, that is the ADDITIONAL sales tax ON TOP of the confiscatory special gax tax; you get taxed on the tax.

That's what I thought. So I am paying a flat tax per gallon and a %!! Still cheaper right now than what you NC'ers are paying.

Go back to that site and hit the "Gas Tax Map" tab at the top and see what total local, state and fed taxes are per gal.

I dont' think that is accurate. I know texas isn't a flat 20 cents a gallon. Maybe that 6% is incorporated into it. But they have the tax in fine print on the pumps, and they don't look like they change based on price.

This also says your tax is $0.20.

Could have been worse, they could have sent you to Chicago.
Actually, I had to make a side trip to Juarez, Mexico before heading home. They say driving in Baghdad is safer. Was comical to see these signs out in the roads there after dark. They were placed there by the drug cartels warning the public not to drive on those roads after 9PM. I guess they're starting to show their compassionate side and let the normal citizenry know they only want to shoot other cartel members, not innocent people.
