Very cool! They said this morning that as of right now they are about 75% sure they are identical but wont be able to tell for sure till the next sonogram at 20 weeks

If you luck out and they are the same --- the costs aren't really any more expensive when they are younger anyway unless of course they are girls, then your life is ruined. Congrats!

Congratulations!!! My brother has twin boys. You two had better rest up now because what one doesn't think of, the other will

wow, grats!! are there twins in either of your family history?
Oh yeah, lots of em! I have first cousins on my mother's side that are identical twins and an aunt and uncle on my fathers side that are fraternal twins. Then, my wife had them on her father's side. Her dad's mother was an identical twin. So, we were cursed from the start!!!

Twins are fun! Our identical girls are 3 and they really give us the run for our money. If I were you and can speak from experience, start stocking on diapers now. You will not have enough of them as the first few months you'll be using an average of 10 diapers/baby/day. Newborn diaper pack has 44 diapers in it, so you can easily see how long that pack lasts.
We wanted to know sexes as soon as it was possible, so that we could start getting clothing, decorating etc. First we were told that we were having a boy and a girl, but at 23 week 3D ultrasound showed that it was clearly 2 girls. We were sure they'd be fraternal because the membrane between the 2 sacks was thick and they had their amonios and chronios separate too. We had them tested when they were 6 months old and sure enough they are identical. :)
How old is your wife?
PS Looks like neither of your family history affects your chances of having twins. Only fraternal twins on your wife's mother's side would do that. Your side doesn't matter either.

They really won't be able to tell that unless they are both in the same sack. That or the DNA test are the only ways to find out identical of fraternal. Of course if they are different gender, then they can only be fraternal.
Can you tell I've studied up on twins :D

Twins are great! Congrats! After dealing with them for years at work, it is still so awesome when we are finally able to put them in the same bed together.... it never grows old... never. I work in an NICU, so the babies are not able to be placed together immediately, but yours will. They way they interact is amazing.
And yes, DNA is the only way.

spidey i didn't kjnow that.
well, unless there was help involved, aren't the chances of identical twins high?
i too would suggest learning the gender(s)... even if just to find out if both the same or one of each.... clothing and nursery painting/decor is a lot easier to plan on :)
