I got the bug....

My seahorses like to freak me out. This morning I could not find one of the seahorses. I looked everywhere in the tank and then I found her in the corner of death. She was hunting for pods there and hiding from me quite well.
The two females are doing great!!! I added a pajama cardinal and 2 HUGE peppermint shrimp that might become lionfish food.

Hello.....
I've been quietly lurking and this past week both of my Sunbursts died....shortly after moving them from a 20 gallon to a 60. Water conditions were all good....just went fast. They were both about 6 months old.
It realy stings......I'm debating ordering more ponies...or scrapping the seahorse idea all together and making it a FWLR tank only. I seem to be a lot more succesful with fish...
Any thoughts? (Yes...I realize I'm asking SH people....)
Jim

Good to know the horses are doing OK!! Have you added anything into the deathcorner to see about moving some water flow?
Yeah, none of us have been really active in here lately, have we??

Ugh, I'm very sorry to hear this. Yes, you're talking to SH people....so naturally our vote is going to be "HORSES!" Especially in a 60g. Would make quite a nice SH tank.

I have added the airline tubing. It seems to be working to help provide more oxygen. It seems that the death corner is the pod corner so the horses go there.
I've been bad with posting here. I'm way more active on another site, but there's no seahorse people there. :(

Sorry for your loss. I would love to see another seahorse member on the boards!!! SW was having a BOGO sale on erectus. Why not start a thread on your tank? This way we can know more about the history of your tank and what direction to take.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
I understand they are fragile little wonders....but to lose two when I thought I was making their lives better stings. I took the course offered on sh.com and thought I knew what I was doing...but I've never heard of things like "dead zones" in the corners of the tank.
I've never purchased from here...and the BOGO sale certainly is appealing. Are they hardy? Good size?

Are you talking about the course offered by Ocean Rider?
My tank is a deep so that presents some issues when it comes to flow. I have added some airline tubing to help assist in adding flow in the bottom of the tank. The reason I call it the death corner is because that is the same spot two of my seahorses have died in.

And of course.....the BOGO sale is apparently over. darn.
Well, the seahorses are 50.00 now, which is not bad. I paid more for mine. The seahorses I have received were from SWF and I have been satisfied with them. They came in a decent size and ate mysis readily.

Yes....I took the Ocean Rider course. I thought it was pretty comprehensive.
And...$50 each is really a pretty good price, if they are decent sized and ready for mysis.

Update: I added 2 cardinals and a mandarin. I also took some video of my seahorse getting blasted by the bubbles. I will post the video when I'm done work.

Thanks Al!! One of my horses gave me a heart attack last night. It was swimming sideways and would not go upright during feeding time. It would hitch and was devouring mysis, but would not swim properly. I checked out the tank and the seahorse was front and center, upright and swaying at me.

LOL...They do like to totally freak you out like that. I have a male that after egg transfer just swoons. First time he did that I was sure he was dying. The hide and go seek game I have grown immune to.
