IF the majority of them weren't schooling fish, wanting/loving larger groups, I wouldn't of done it..... But I think I can get away with what I have..... Fingers crossed and praying..... That is the reason I waited till I got my last fish to post it, easier to ask for forgiveness ..... or that's approach I use with women in my life!
Acans..... addicting little buggers aren't they? But you know that unless I see a pix, lol.... u know the rest!

So meowzer, I finally got enough brains to ask my LFS about what could be causing this problem with my Red Planet, and they went over a few things..... Not much substance behind their answer, but they had.... yada yada "red bugs" yada yada.... me... Then I had a friend come over and ask me why I was letting a rock crab live in my tank, as he saw a molt of one of the claws. So last night I was determind to catch that dang rock crab, he must be doing something to my colonies.... But I looked at one of my sps and noticed orange bugs crawling all over it, hundreds.... then it hit me... Yada yada "red bugs"....... I bet it's red bugs!!!! Quick google search later and I came up with red bugs and my cure of Intercepter. I went to my LFS to get it today, and they carried it...... COOL..... well maybe, as I know where and why I got them now.......
There is a question in here.... How often should I do the treatment? And I am seeing conflicting WC statments, some just state they run carbon, some say carbon and WC? If I can just run carbon, it would save me money on the cost of WC's. I have a cleaner shrimp who will be housed in my 24g for the treatment, that I don't want to kill, as they are 24 bucks a pop here...... So poney up the dough for the WC's?

Treat the tank once a week for 3 weeks. Run carbon after each treatment (12hrs) and resume skimming if you have a skimmer. Remove all shrimp and crabs before treatment. It might kill off some pods too, but some will make it. It is a good med to have around for new arrivals. A 6hr bath usually works good.

So as I read this you don't do a water change with it and you have done it before?

Yes, I have done this before. The carbon will remove it. It does not harm anything else except crabs, shrimp, pods. I have an anemone, and lots of corals. They and the fish did great. If it makes you feel better, you can do a 25% water change too. But carbon will remove it. Some people say do one, others don't. I think I did small ones like 5%. I actually use this stuff on new corals all the time. I buy the 6pack from the vet. It has to be the large dog size tabs to get the proper amt of the med jic you didn't know... One last question, and I appreciate your help on this, but do you know if it would effect a tiger tail cucumber? I worry about it becomeing a problem.

I am surprised you found Interceptor at the pet store, I thought it was by prescription only from the vet?

No, I can't help you there. When in doubt, just remove it to another tank during the treatments. Make sure you have the correct interceptor. Henry is right, you can only get it from a vet. It is for large dogs and has 25mg of the med in each tab, and are beef flavored lol. One tab treats up to 400g. Like I said, it is a good med to have for new arrivals. I have done this ever since someone infected my tank. It kills them quick, along with any nasty hitchhiker crabs, etc.

That do major tank maintenance throught the state of Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, so they have some on had that they got from a vet in Idaho. I promise its the right stuff, thanks for the concern. I have gotten the wrong things for my tanks in the past! I did state it kinda non shalauntly.

So could this take out the rock crab I am trying to catch? I know it nuked the heck out of my hermit population....... ohh well now the snails can have their shells back!
Needless to say I did my first round of it last night, 12 hr dose, with removal of cleaner shrimp and 3 conches. Ran carbon afterward and did a 15gallon water change. Added the cleaner and conches back in 3 hr after carbon running and WC. Looks good..... No Red bugs visible. I am going to do it again next sat just for the follow up though!
ohh ps.... I left the cuc in and he's fine!!!

Well follow up with it, red bugs bothered my rainbow Monti, red planet, purple plasma and my orange digitata. Reason I know, well parameters are all the same, but red bugs are gone and growth went through the roof through the month of January. I will have to post another comparison picture now, as I haven't done one since October. (With no water change, my cleaner shrimp didn't make it.....

RED BUGS SUCK!
Dealt with them in the past, and not 100% convinced that they're still not in my tank somewhere. My husband thinks they are, I'm just not sure. They can be handled, just have to stay on top of it.
I'd love to see progression shots!
