Hello
I just purchased a 29 bio-cube and I was wondering if you have any advise on setting it up and getting started? I am familar with salt water but i have never run a live rock tank and I have just bought the Nano Handbook. So if you have any tips I would really apperiate it!
Thanks
Conchdiver
If you look a little earlier in my thread I posted a pic of the mod I made to the chambers to get more flow. Use live sand and real ocean water to speed up cycling (took my tank about a week). If your doing lps look into calcium buffers. I use a 2 part buffer called B- Ionic by ESV and dose my tank every other day.

I just ordered a Tunze skimmer for my Biocube. I will be following your mods to install it. Any advice on mods , or things you would have done another way?
I think your tank is just about the nicest one I have seen lately.
Great job!
Thanks,
Rudy

Get a dremel to cut the chamber lips, I used a small hand saw and it was a pain.. Other then that your good to go, just watch the water line on the tunze. You want the water to sit a half inch below their marker, I guess the marker was for the euro model, which had a weaker pump.. Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for sharing the pics.

My daughter and I are waiting for her 29g to cure.
She wants an eel, but I told her she probably couldn't keep one in a nano. Looks as if you proved me wrong!
We have not done any upgraded from factory except the Hydor 2 powerhead. Any suggestions?
She would like a tank very similar to the one you have set up.
(I'm going to show her your pics for inspiration!)

Cant the eels be very messy in a tank ? With all the food they eat. And also hey are those palys you have in your last photo the same as those ones that arent open in the photo with the eel ? Cause i was thinking when i see the pic of them closed they look like they have some type of fungus but when they are opened they look so healthy and beautiful. Reason i ask cause i got some pinks from my lfs looked just like that and when they closed they looked the same way so i thought they had a fungus and got rid of em :( AHHH i feel so bad now cause they were like 40 dollars. LOL.

I feed the eel 2- 3 times a week and hes small now so im just feeding him brine shrimp. Im sure when he gets bigger so will his appetite and bio load but my tank seems to be handling everything well. I opted for a quality skimmer and more LR to handle a larger bio load. The pink zoas in the last shot are the same as the closed ones in the pic with the eel. No fungus, the open pic was taken after the shot when they were closed.

Thanks, snowflake eels require a tank size of 30 gallons or larger. Mine will probably out grow my tank with all the LR and coral but not for a long time. My LFS has a huge one permanently in a fish only 30 gallon and it looks great.
