What size tank do you have now and what do you have in it? Do you just have the 5 gallon? Maybe check your local craigslist or here on the boards to see if someone is selling a nano for a reasonable price?
I know it's hard to wait.... but it'll be worth it and I can't wait to see your Picasso(s)

I took down my last 10 gallon tank about a month ago. The lights(stock) went bad and the filter pump burnt out and I just got frustrated and took it down. I then gave it to my Grandma who bought new stuff for it, and set it up as fresh.
I am looking for a tank right now... I think I might just take my time on this one.
When I get the new one I will be getting water from my friends established tank. Maby I will only have a small cycle.
Your tank looks great by the way! Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Chris! This tank is at home; the 29 is at work. And furbaby is doing well! The cancer was contained in the mass that was removed and with the surgical removal of it, it got ALL of it, so he's going to be okay with no further treatment, to just keep an eye on the site.

Thanks so much!!~ BTW, I am holding out for a possum wrasse for this tank too!~ ies/bigg.gif" border="0" alt="" title="big grin" class="inlineimg" /> I fell in love with the one in my 29 and figured that if I was going to add another fish, it would have to be a sweet and peaceful one like that one!

What kind of duncan is yours? Mine is an Aussie one, but I've heard that the ORA ones grow the fastest.
I feed mine a mixture of krill, mysis, brine plus, Phyto Feast and Roti Feast. They pretty much eat anything that they can catch in their tentacles, including pellets!
These have GREAT feeding responses. If you have something that looks like it's sprouting right under the mother head, they're probably babies. They'll look like little buds. These things are fast growers for sure though. I may have to move them to my 29 if they get too big.

It IS full! I was looking at it a few mins ago trying to figure things out... I think I'm gonna take the fox coral out of this one and put it in my 29 and put the one that's in my 29 in this one since it's smaller. I've GOT to make room before the end of the month when I'm on vacation because I'm gonna hit FLRicordia up for some rics and I NEED some place to put them!

Yay for your blasto babies! I saw them!
Also, first thing tomorrow morning before I head to work, while the elegance is pulled into its skeleton, I'm gonna put the skeleton further into the sandbed so that it can lay flatter. Gotta do it when it's like that because man, those tentacles are stiiiiiiicky!

Keep your fingers crossed for me! My LFS just called me and said that possum wrasses were showing as "available" on her supplier's list and she ordered one for me, and if all goes well, it should be in tomorrow!

Yes, you can put different percula's together. Just make sure that if you add one to an existing one, you get it smaller.
And let me know if you get a picasso 'cause I wanna see it!!~

Ok, you are probable tired of me hijacking your thread for my questions, but I have one more about my picasso tank.
I only have the five gallon ready, but I KNOW FOR SHURE that I will be upgrading to a bigger tank the week of January 15. That is the day my parents have said I can upgrade to around 65 gallons. (My birthday)
Do you think that is to long of a time to have the Picasso in a five gallon?
Thank you soooo much for all of your help!

Ummmm.... *optimally*, it would be happier in a tank a little bit bigger. The ones from here are still babies and aren't that big, so MAAAAAAYBE it might be okay for 6 months in there.
I know that when I first started out with FOWLR, I had a 5 gallon tank with one ocellaris in it and it did fine. I had no corals in it, just two good sized rocks and the clown.
I know that you want a picasso really bad... take a good look at the 5 gallon and what you want to put in it besides the picasso and see how you feel. I guarantee that once you get that picasso in the 5 gallon, you will be upgrading, maybe not to the 65 right away, but to a bigger tank soon after.

Ok, I guess I don't want it to be unhappy... I guess I will just wait.
Thank you sooooo much for all of your help!!!!!

BRISTLE WORM!!!!!

I know, I know... I was naive to think that there couldn't possibly be any ugly worm in my tank, but I've been ummm... "enlightened". I have one
that I am sure of because it's the same one I've been seeing for the past 3 nights in a row now, coming from the same place. At least it's pink, right?

Anyway, while looking at the tank tonight, I saw it come out looking for some food, so I decided to grab my camera. That ugly booger is downright MEAN! There was a little blue leg crab just chillin', laying back on its shell and the bristle worm sneaks up on it and grabs it and pulls it into his hole. I wasn't about to let him kill one of my little janitors, so I took the wooden skewer out and poked at the bristle worm and it immediately went back into its hole.
Can you believe that??
Bristle worm "sneaking" down towards the crab

It reaches down into the shell

and jerks the shell back, trying to take it into his hole

is that crazy or what??
anyway, I did end up moving the elegance's skeleton deeper into the sand so that it can spread out more and I think it's lovin' it!
Before... the skeleton was not deep into the sandbed, so the flesh rested around the base

After... now, the flesh can lay somewhat flatter and spread out

Got my possum wrasse today!!~

Wanted a peaceful wrasse and couldn't think of a more peaceful one than the possum. This one is a little bigger than the one in my 29 and seems to be a little more colorful.
When he first got in the tank, he went for the mushrooms... guess he thinks he blends right in, huh?

Such a beautiful little wrasse.... the white lines will disappear when he's not stressing.

Well, now he's found himself a nice little cave. How nice was he to pop his little head out for a peek!~

So far, the clowns haven't noticed him. We'll see how it goes!~
