hey joe ive been following along here since the start.i have been planning on getting a peacock for a while and finally got my sick fish out of my spare 33 gallon qt.its a tall tank but plenty big for a mantis.thanks for doing all the hard footwork research on these guys for me
we are moving this weekend and i plan to set this tank up probably just like yours.i have a 90 reef i want to add more corals to and have over 150 lbs of lr in the tank and 50 more pounds of base rock in the sump so i am going to swipe 15-20 lbs of it for the mantis tank.
i do have a few questions if you don't mind?
for the substrate how much crushed coral to sand mix?
do these guys jump the tank or is open top OK?
i love the peacock you picked so do i ask my supplier to get that sweet red mantis for a female red peacock and i should be good?
thanks in advance

I went with almost a 50/50 mix
I don’t think they jump but I do have egg create as a protection against my light falling in I would go with a cover
Yes IMO a female Odontodactylus scyllarus is the way to go. Try for one 3 inches and under and make sure you are getting a true peacock look for the : Leopard spots on anterior lateral carapace
