Eeeeww Krista! Is that in your tank? Looks huge!! Thanks for the input Meowzer. I have been watching it, and all it seems to do is graze on the rock. It isn't bothering the zoas, so I guess it's ok. I did see one of those snails I was talking about on my colony of bam bams when I first got it, and I knew it was ok. That is what I thought it was when I first noticed it this afternoon. But it's not. Must be a large limpit after all. From what I have read, some are good, and some are bad. Gonna have to keep an eye on this one if I can. lol. But SO FAR, he is only grazing on algae....

Tis a keyhole limpit, as noted by the hole and the shape of the shell. Mostly harmless creatures although not entirely reef safe as they may eat coralline algae and other desirable benthic growths... sometimes coral tissue.

So Henry, would you remove it and any others found? I have lots of tiny ones in the refugium? Thanks for the comment Kiefers!! Appreciate it. :)

I have a few in my tank and have not noticed any adverse actions by them. However mine are dying off as I am guessing that I don't have any algae for them to eat.

Pheew!! Just got done catching up on this thread. Seems that I had a whole year to catch up on. Loved seeing the progression of your tank Luv!! You have some of the best looking Z's and P's I have seen. Love all the SPS's and acans.
Thank you for helping me get through a slow Tuesday at work. It seems like the rock work is back to three islands, but theses are connected. I LIKE IT A LOT!!
Look forward to keeping up on this one, and not having so much time pass before I catch up.

Thanks, and I am glad I could help fill your day lol. The z's and p's need better pics on here. I will get some soon. The gobstoppers are losing their color thanks to the flame angel constantly picking on them. :(. All others are good. Thanks again.

Well, I might cancel my order if they haven't shipped it yet. I am gonna throw a question out there to everyone, in all seriousness. If I end up losing this battle with dino, which it appears I am, WHO WANTS TO BUY ALL MY CORAL AND FISH LOL. If I tear down this tank, I am not redoing a tank at all. I will leave the hobby. Tank is in the dark for today. Last night I went over every rock with a small hose, and siphoned all I could find, this am it is coming back already. I am out of ideas....thinking seriously of getting out....I might live longer without all this stress lol. For those who don't know there are two kinds of dino. One is nonphotosynthetic, and one is. I wouldn't wish this plague on anyone. My only other option would be to try ick attack that claims it kills dino. Dinoflagellates are the cause of red tide, etc. It is extremely hard to kill once it's established. :( Seriously guys, as I sit here, I am planning the break down of this tank. What took me a year to build, dino is taking it in weeks....Not happy at all right now..:(...I feel defeated/depressed.

Thanks. As I sit here and ponder my options, I have concluded this. I will give it one more go. I am gonna do the ick attach treatments, and change my salt. I will remove all I can, and do a very large water change with seachem salt. I just remembered that RC has extra trace elements, vitamins, etc that this algae feeds on. Then, I will do no more water changes and see what I see. I will cut my lights back to actinic only for a couple days, then restart halides for a couple hours. If this doesn't work, I have decided that I will tear down this tank all joking aside. And yes, I will need to find good homes for my stuff cause locally they wouldn't find very good ones..:(

Thanks guys. It would seem all the things I have been doing is right. I have taken my ph up, cut back on lights, feeding, skimmer running wet skim, added fresh carbon......Anyway, I am off to the lfs to get some new salt. I really think that my rc is adding to my problem. Spanko, I have pics that show the slime. I wish it was something else, but like I said before, I had it in the 75g. Surely, the bleached rock frrom the 75 didn't harbor any of it, and then I reintroduced it to this tank?? :(

Tis possible. At this point I would leave all lights off for at least 3 or 4 days. This will not harm your coral as the tank will still get ambient room lighting. Don't get anxious here with putting the lights back on because you don't see the dino anymore. Do at least 3 or 4 days. Is your Ph still elevated?

Yes, Ph is elevated via buffer. I will retest in a minute. My local store was out of seachem salt!!! dang it!! So I bought regular IO, at least it doesn't have extra trace elements in it. I will order seachem on line. No problem turning off the lights, but the refugium light is running at night. Should be alright, so I will shut it off for a night. Right now, the cheato is the only thing competing with the dino. I bought the ick attach, but am gonna hold off on using it. I have a migraine
