Well Spanko, when I get home I will check the status of the algae. I will probably run the moon lights tonight. Tomorrow the actinics for maybe 3-4hrs??? I will be at work, so I would prob. have to set the timer. I would like to feed them tonight too. What do you think??

Ok, update time. No algae on the rocks or sand that is in the front of the tank!! Some brownish red on the lower back part of the back glass. Still a slight hue of discolor on the back sand. Sailfin tang is now white and black. Corals look like crap. Turned on lights to feed, fish fighting and not wanting to eat except for the chromis. Should I run my moon lights spanko? To help decrease the stress? I have to work tomorrow, so I will give it one more day of lights out. Thanks.

Is your filter media dirty, skimmer cup full, etc. etc? If so clean them and change out the filter floss pads whatever. Lights back on tonight after work to see how it is. Your critters should be fine. Remember the ocean can see days of no sunlight during stormy season. Blotchy color on fish are normal night time occurrence.

I have changed filter media/pads/floss daily. Skimmer has quit pulling out as much. Lights will resume tonight then, and I will keep moonlights on tonight. Yes, I know about the fish, but the sailfin looked pretty bad last night. Really stressed. Anthias wanted to just fight. Geesh...lol.. Hopefully, the algae will be defeated....:)

LOL. I was training someone that day, so....it was easy to sneak in a comment here and there. After all, everything we chart now is on the computer.
Well, to update on the algae. Actinic lights were used today, no metal halides. I see a couple tiny spots on a couple rocks that are slightly discolored. Will watch them closely. So far though, I have seen a major improvement. Sand bed remains white for now. Fish and corals look good. I need more cuc now for sure. I will post pics tomorrow of the new coral I got Tuesday. They are doing really well considering they arrived during my lights out period. :) And the little tailspot blenny is eating good too. So finally, something positive to post...:)

UGH! Had my tonsil out yesterday, and I do not recommend it. Painful, Painful, Painful. I guess it's pretty bad for adults, but I didn't know it would be like this. So, I am sitting here typing and swigging lortab elixir. Nasty tasting stuff. Update on the tank, I may be losing my sunset monti after the lights out period. The top of it is slowing fading to a grey/white. I hope it stops soon, it is one coral that took me forever to survive shipping. They always ship poorly. Everything else is good. Still have the small brownish discoloration on a rock. I got my new salt mix yesterday, and as soon as I feel better, I am gonna make a batch up.

Thanks Al. So far so good on the tank, except the monti, and it might turn around. Oh, I hope I don't get sick on top of this. My throat is killing me. The elixir knocks me out. I hate to whine, but dang! It hurts to talk, cough, swallow, yuck, yuck, yuck. LOL.

A couple new shots. May not be the best since I have been taking lortab elixir lol. I think my setosa is taking off really well. Also, my gbta is looking a little more colorful. Wish I could get my hands on a red one. Anyway here ya go.

My sunset monti is trying to die. It had looked fine before I did the lights out. But it is slow, so I am hoping that it comes back. I think the algae is trying to come back on the one rock. With the next water change, I will siphon it off if I can. All other coral looks good, and fish are fine. Oh, forgot to mention, when the lights were out I had a huge pod explosion. My mandarin is a happy little thing. :)

Good, don't be afraid to do it again if needed, lights out that is.
I might have to do it again. But I have seen a major improvement.

SO LUV...are you bringing the lights on gradually?
Well, kind of. the first night after work, I had the actinics on for 2hrs, and ran my refugium light all night. The next day, only the actinics were ran about 6hrs during the day. Then the next day, I ran the actinics 6hrs, and metal halides for 2hrs. Now the tank lighting is actinics 7hrs, and metal halides 3.
