For the 180g, 1.025. why? It is different in the 10g because I am using tropic marine pro for it, and when I mixed the batch it came out 1.024, so I left it. I have always run 1.025 on the 180 though.

Just wondering. On the aquavitro site they give recommendations for mixing to a certain Sg at a certain temperature to obtain the readings they say the salt will give on the other parameters.

Yeah, I think that is on the bucket too. I was suprised that the ca was only 400 though. I have to say that my rics are all puffed up, and I can see some growth on my monti caps. That is about it for now.

Well, I was hoping that this new salt might help. You know. It is still on the sand, and on certain areas of two rocks. I can suction it off, and it comes back within a couple days. No snot anymore though lol. More carpet like on the sand again.

You know Henry, I think I made a huge mistake when I started this tank. Maybe. I used fiji pink sand for the most part, but I recall also using the dry marine sand, about 20-40lbs, I cant remember the exact amt. It said it contained NO SILICATES, but I am wondering if it did, and I will be fighting this algae for a long time. Even though I run the chemipure elite carbon that helps remove all that stuff. Could this be my underlying problem? I might have a mixture of diatoms and dinos.........

I guess anything is possible, but one would think that eventually the silicates would have been used up by the algae and absorbed by the chemipure. What "dry marine sand" did you use?

I don't remember the name, but it had the pic of the clownfish on the front of it. I believe it came in 5 or 10lb bags. It was placed in the tank first with all the fiji pink on top. It was just a thought that maybe this could be a problem. I am grasping at straws lol..... I am gonna suction the front sandbed with my water change today. I will prob. do it daily until I can clear this up. Gonna add more cuc too.

Conchs are great as they do eat diatoms. For your size tank I would get around 3 of them. Try to make sure they are the Florida Fighting ones as there are others out there that IMO are not as effective.

I mixed up a batch of aquaviro salinity last night. Will test the water today and post results. I have a question though. Did someone post that borate is bad for sps? I am pretty sure I read it in a thread somewhere.... I was looking at the bucket and this salt contains some of it. So......is that good or bad??
