The basic ABCs of reef keeping and you are a moderator, an example or us all...

WELL....if I ws to start all over again I would....BUT....since I am basically done adding fish....it is no longer necessary..for me that is

I have to get out of here and get to work..I don't need to use a QT either for that reason but that is different than saying you don't do it. LOL...I'm just saying...mostly I posted so I could play with the little icon smileys of fish

Well, I ordered a blue crocea clam and blastos today. Will post pics tomorrow. On a good note, my blue hornets have 4 polyps now, and my rastas have three polpys instead of just one now, so they are growing good. I am going to remove them from the nano and put them in the 180 within the next day or so. Any thoughts on the placement of the clam? In the rocks or in the sand??

Here's my clam under actinics (my halides are off). It is really nice. The blastos are not open fully yet so no pics. I will take more under the reg. lights tomorrow. I guess I can say that these pics are for you meowzer, my only responder....

When a thread gets huge I tend to not look unless I have been a part of the conversation..but the promise of pictures drew me in. I love actinic lights, everything in blue. The clam looks like it has little lights on it..beautiful!

LOL. Yeah, I researched it. I thought that I could move it to the rocks tomorrow because I just put him in the tank, and any sudden movements have him closing up. The blastos are opening more, but not all the way. I cant get over the clam though, it is so pretty!!! It is the first one I have ever bought. the next one will be green... And your welcome! I knew you would enjoy/like the pics.

Glad your back, I just thought you were busy for the Holidays. I hate computer problems.
I had a maximus (spelling?) clam it looked blue in the tank but if I looked at it from the top of the tank straight down it was green color. I was amazed at the difference.

Yeah, computer problems....ugh... I too am amazed at how pretty clams are. I put mine on a rock, but within a few hours it went back down onto the sand and burrowed into it. I would love to get a green clam next. :)

LOL, I placed him on the rocks in the pic, and within a few hours he was back down in the sand burrowing down in. So, for right now he is on the sand and doing great.
