I know what she said, but my urchin is very nice. he hangs out on the rocks and on my glass. He doesn't eat things. He doesn't even care when the snails and hermits climb on him. They clean him and take him for rides.

My urchin didn't eat anything at first either. Then it ate a whole kenya tree...and then I did a little more research on them
I am building up my reef, and not willing to "chance" the urchins eating anything else

I will probably not keep him if he is going to do that, and then he may have to live in my fuge. But for now, he is fine. I do watch him though. So what do we think about that white thing? Do you need a clearer pic?

well is it an injury or what?
I have had my urchin for about 2 months, maybe more. He was one of my 1st purchases because I thought he looked like such a BAMF.

haha BAMF is Bad --- Mother f-er.... lol You really have never heard that? haha.
Yeah, well I have him and I don't want to get rid of him before I have a reason to. I really am kind of in love with everything in my tanks. I really like him, so I'll keep my fingers crossed and maybe i'll have to put him in a FOWLR tank someday if he can't mind his P's and Q's. I guess I will post that mandarin thing under the disease area. He looks okay and he is eating well and has good color so I am sure he is fine.

See the white thingy? What is that?

Hard to tell with the picture...I can't tell if it is a parasite attached or a booboo from the rocks. Cranberry would know...she the expert on that stuff around here PM her and ask her to take a peek.
Oh ...and I can't imagine how copper could have gotten into a new tank, unless you released the water that your critters came in from the store...I still think the tank is just too new for corals...go for a lttle fish, let him live in there for awhile. Also nanos are harder to get going than big tanks in saltwater.
Kids are doing it all the time on this site...hats off to them.

Flower- I bought that small maroon that was pictured earlier to put in the 24gal. I also bought more live rock for it, and the clown seems to be very happy. He is hosting his powerhead and swims around a lot and is living just fine. No, I didn't release that water from the bags into my tank. I never do that. The reason I would suspect that the tank may have had copper in it even though it was sold as new, was because that same LFS screwed me on a chiller that I bought new from him. I bought this nano set up, then realized I needed a chiller and he said "oh I'll order it and it'll be great.. I'll get you a good deal." Well he got it all right and it made the most god aweful noise ever and it was heard through out my ENTIRE house. Even walls and rooms away. I took it back and insisted it was busted and he said it wasn't (The thermometer display was broken too). So I have to buy another chiller (a jbj) and it was the same HP, less money and works better. Now I am out a chiller and I have a tank that only supports some life.
That is why I freaked out... but long story short, I don't go to that LFS anymore. I hope they go out of business.
Kat- Thanks for saying it looked good...Just to be clear, 90% of those pics were of my 45 gal, not the new nano.

Just because a chiller was broken doen't mean it wasn't new. So copper shouldn't be an issue. Why do you feel you need a chiller? Some fish, like sea horses do require cooler temps, but most reef fish and coral like the warmer temps.
