I'm sure its possible... it just takes a bunch of selective breeding to produce that stuff.

got any sponges or filter floss in there? both trap stuff and can become nitrate factories. also if detritus is just accumulating, that'll do it too..
yeah there is a sponge in the back. also, when ever i ppoint the ph at the rock it looks like detritus is coming right off. what should i do to fix this?

anyone know of a good affordable skimmer for my jbj?
yep.. the no skimmer route.
a bunch of corals, rock, and filter feeders should take care of it if you have a turf scrubber lol...
if you really want a skimmer, I'm sure Tunze makes one that fits.

enjoy...
its a setup where a pump goes to a pvc/plastic single slit spray bar that empties over a plastic screen like a water fall.. there is intense lighting on both sides of the screen to grow nuisance and turf algae which exports nitrates, phosphates, heavy metals, excess elements, and all other bad stuff much more efficiently than chaeto and discourages nuisance algae from growing in other parts of the tank and this setup typically takes up alot less space than a separate dedicated chaeto refugium i.e. 10gallon tank lol.

LOL.... it aint that big a deal, you'd be set with a 4inch wide by 7inch tall screen with a pump (reuse one stock pump, i assume you already replaced your stockers with better ones anyway) running to it. Are there any chambers on that thing where the water level is low?? just have the pump pull from a deep chamber and empty the screen into a shallow chamber.. it could work.. If I still had my biocube 14, I'd experiment. At worst, you'll be out like $20 for supplies.
I'm gonna run this thing on my Tunze, I will prove all naysayers wrong lol.
