Do you mind saying what kind of anemone that was, when you got it, and what happened to it? Also do you mind commenting on how the scallop is doing and why it's hiding spot is gone. I have a similar setup and would like to add both to my setup at some point, but I'd like to know how other are going with them, when they were addded, and what variations they have.
Hi GreenReefer,
First let me touch on the anenome, it was (notice past tense) a Florida Condy. I have had 2 in the 4 almost 5 short months that I have had my tank. The first was huge wayyy too big for my tank, it did very well and pretty much found its home where the one you mentioned is sitting. I traded him in for a smaller one that you see in the pic. After alot of research and reading I realized that it prob wasnt the best choice for a small tank like mine. Cony's IMO are much more aggressive than other types of anenomes, their tenticles are very very long and the smallest ones can look huge when they are inflated and stretched out. I had one of my clowns become a tasty meal for it and that was the straw that broke the camels back, I traded it in again. Pros and cons although they are more aggressive they are easy to keep alive. I now have a pink bubble tip anenome and it is much nicer in the tank. Although it can stretch its tenticles out, it pretty much keeps to its self stays put and is happy. I have had this one for about 3 weeks now.
The scallop is an Electric flame scallop, its hiding place is still there if it wants it. Problem is scallops move all over the place and very quickly too. They open their shell and slam it shut repeatedly to swim to where it wants to be. Usually stirring up all sorts of stuff in the tank and residing somewhere else. The issue with these guys is you need to feed them directly and if they find a spot behind your LR it becomes a task to get food to them. And they need to be fed often, like every 2 to 3 days. In the 4 month tank pics hes was just pulled out from behind the LR. Hope this helps... Good luck
