... Remember your gorgonians are peaceful but keep them away from other corals they dont play nice. And the ones you purchased are low or NO light corals..you will need to spot feed regularly and they need to be placed in HIGH flow. This will keep algea from growing on them, as any algea will be bad for your gorgonias if by chance it starts to get a build up of cyano it will kill them. Also try not to let any of the branches touch any of your LR. They will get necrosis and rot in the area that is touching.
Good luck man....
I am waiting on getting some rics for my tank.. none of my LFS have any worth buying.. all are dull in coloration..
Thanks, I did not know that if any of it touches the lr it will rot, i will make a note not to do that when i get them, thanks again.
About the pics I dont have a computer yet (on here at work) but am getting one this month so hopefully i will figure out a way to post pics if i get some.

I purchased it from my LFS.. Well kind of it was a steal really.. they apparently had it for a while and had a price I couldnt say no too.
No they are not considerd a novice coral.. they are low light corals with med to high flow. They need to feed often so spot feeding is a good idea, as with spot feeding any coral you can over do it eaisily and I think thats where the issues lie with having one of these.
When I feed it I take a small container fill it with my tank water and put it in it. Then I feed it in the bucket.. after about 5 minutes I put it back into my tank and add a small amount of salt water to replace what I took out. It seems to work well and I am sure not to OD my tank.

Do you do that with most of your corals or is that not possible because they would close up if you took them out, or do they open right back up? would that be a good idea for the gorgonians?

Well its not possible with most of my other corals and its also not necessary. Most of my other corals get what they need from the water column, and regular water changes, 20% once a week. That replaces trace elements like iodine and calcium. Also cyclops is consumed by my fish as well as my corals so that goes right into the tank I shut off the main pump and feed that way everything gets pushed through the water.
Its a tough call with some corals when you touch them their polyups close up and then you cant feed them. I have found that gorgonians are much more sensitive to touch than my carnation is, that and the fact that it is stuck to my LR with epoxy. But luckily I am fortunate to be able to take out the carnation and its polyups are still out, makes feeding eaiser.
When I feed it in the tank I would shut off all my pumps and power heads. use a very very small amount of phyto or what ever your feeding and squirt a very very small amount around the open polyups with out touching them. You will see them suck in the food using their polyups. Phyto seems to be heavier than water so it almost stays suspended in the water column around the coral for a while too.

Thanks. Even if I decided I could handle it, I think it would be difficult to find one like yours (purple). I've been into the hobby for almost a full year and have never seen one for sale in LFS's or on the internet. I've only seen red or orange.

Really?? Well I hope thats a good thing and not a bad..if its supposed to be red and its purple then it could be losing its coloration.. But it was never red to begin with.. HMMMMM maybe this little guy might be worth something if I can get it to grow and frag...

Hey I got my stuff yesterday and guess what, I ordered 2 green rics and they gave me ...5
and everything looked great when I opened the box, except for the red gorgonian which had one of the branches broken off but no prob i just put it on a rock.
My clay zoos opened almost immediatly also like 5mins in the tank (and didnt acclimate or anything because the bag wouldnt fit into my lid) and the gorgonians except for the main red piece opened within the hour. Everything was beautiful and looks great in my tank. Hopefully my fiance will get her computer today and this weekend we'll get the internet so i can post pics but if not still happy !!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!

so happy my tank actually (finally) looks more like a reef tank after 5months of nothing. I am on my way to having a tank that looks like yours.

Hey there PD
I am VERY impressed by your tank. I have been checking back in here for the updated pics all the time. I have a 3 1/2 week old Nano 24g. I am trying my best and am having lots of fun. Do you run stock lighting of 2 blue actinic and 2 white? Or MH? Also have you ever ordered anything off of here?!?! I REALLY want to but am worried about receiving a dead pile of goo. Just a few pics. I JUST put in the Moon and sun coral. I freaken love it. Where did you manage to get your flow directional thingy's I would love some but I can't find them anywhere?

Hi Peef thank you...
Yes I am currently running all stock lighting 2 acentic blue 36 watt and 2 10k 36w PC's. I havent ordered anything off here as of yet, but I want too. Rattler has and he is very pleased with his live stock. There have been instances where people have recieved things that were no longer living but from what I have read SWF has taken care of them very well. I want to order some RIC shrooms because I cant find any around me that look even half as good as the ones on this site.
I have 2 ummmm "direction thingy's" lmao as you put it.. I am not sure which you are refering too. One is the loc line splitter on my main return to the tank, the other is a hydor flo attachment for a standard power head. Both I got from a LFS near me. But both can be ordered online pretty much every where. Do a search for a product called "loc line" and the other is "Hydor Flo" you will find them eaisily.
Good luck with your corals they are sweet. I want a sun coral too but spot feeding each tube is a necessity and I dont know if I want that type of responsibility right now.
