reaquascaped today. (i can stop anytime i want to!
) i was starting to think the tank was looking too full and rubbley. so i tried to use bigger pieces, and im experimenting with this little tidepool looking thing on the left, not sure if i like it or not.
decided the plate probably wasnt getting enough light, so i moved it up to the top of the tank, and it looks MUCH better! in the 3 hours or so it has been there is has inflated much more than it has since i got it, and it looks MUCH greener. (BTW yes i know about why you shouldnt put a plate on LR, i picked this piece in particular because of how flat and smooth it was.)
i also fragged my zoas a couple times so i could lay the rock they are on flat and not smoosh any. :D

i really need to get a black background.

Its looking very good!
I like the tide pool thing you made there. Get a black garbage bag and cut it to the size you need it to be and put it on the back and tape it there. I did that on my freshwater tank and it looks great! Keep up the good work!

i actually thought about that before i took the pics but i couldnt find one!
i really want to just paint the back but i dont want to fumigate anything.
would regular acrylic work? or i have black house paint (********) but i think that would be a little fumey.

I painted the back of my 36 gal bow front.. no issues. I masked the entire tank off with newspaper and tape. I also did the same to the top covering it entirely and taping all the seams. I used a matt black spray paint it worked perfectly. No issues, I talked to my trusted source at my LFS who did the same with 3 of his tanks, and they do the same for clients that they do installs for. Before I take any of the tape or paper off I made sure the back of the tank was dried completly. Hope this helps...

I think the only issue with that is if water gets between the acrylic painted piece and your tank back. It will leave a run mark and when it evaporates salt residue will show. just my 2 cents.

Tank looks good, once the purple coraline fills the rocks with color it will look beautiful. Also a black background would be great!

Nice tank. Just went through all 4 pages of your progress. So did you get a new tank??? You said something hit it and there was a crack. Your fungia looks fine. Check it at night when the lights go out they usually inflate up. You need some acans and micro's. They have really nice colors. Oh what kind of tank is that i like how it's tall. I have a 29gal also but's it's not tall.

Thanks! well, this tank has a chip, but no it was my QT that cracked.
i have to find my 15 hex and set that up, but i think my dad may have gotten rid of it.

yeah now that ive moved the plate up onto the rocks & closer to the light it looks MUCH BETTER!

im thinking i want more bright reds, yellows, oranges, blues, and purples as far as corals go, because ive realized that even if i find something really cute like my zoas, they tend to blend into the tank because a lot of my rocks are greenish bluish purple. i love how much the sun corals and the plate stand out, theyre the first thing you see. im currently saving my $ back up to maybe buy a frag pack on here. (funds are currently $2.64
) so im thinking about what it want. i still really want a brain, but im going to have to find one locally, which will be hard to do.
the tank is a 29 (i think... i got it online and the seller wasnt sure) bowfront not sure how tall. ill get some demensions after school. (im late!)

Yea, phishy is a nice store, clean tanks nice owners. I gave them some of my christmas money. 5 min or so from Morse rd/270 east loop around cols.
Jacks is right there too, gave them some of my money also, fish didn't make it 48hrs (they offer 7 days on swf). Called them and went down to pick up another, he lasted 6 days this time. I didn't bother calling this time, I would have too much $ tied up in one fish.
Alix, if your looking for a brain try Coral Reefs on the south side of Firestone GC. they are a small place but they get in some unique stuff.

that place was scary. lol. not sure about Firestone GC... ill look it up, always looking for a good LFS!
got my calcium test today from MD. havent had it tested for a few months, it ended up being 460-480.
not 100%, but definately somewhere in that area, the test is pretty weird. its the API test.
