really? everything seems to be thriving under the pc. the only thing i'm a little worried about is my torch, but that's going straight into the big one once its ready.
imo, i wouldnt put sps under pc.
if that is a green slimer?
it needs halides or good t-5's. if not it may bleach out. the others may brown as well. nothing is gauranteed but i would watch that slimer

i dont remember what the green one is called but i know its not a slimer. i would have remembered that one. The guy who sold it to me is the vice president of the marine club i join and i told him what kind and what size light i had, so he gave me the ones that would work for it.
I know the setup looks scary for the lights but i've tested it's strength and my cat jumped up there and knocked it around, it never fell or even looked like it would fall. if i had kids i would have built something for it, but i dont, so i wont.

I too am a bit worried about the SPS with PCs...but it may work, every tank is different.
I am a bit more worried about the combination of soft corals (esp rapidly spreading soft corals like Xenia), LPS, SPS and gorgonians in a very small tank. I know you are starting a larger tank. But these sorts of combinations may be difficult. They prefer different lighting, different water quality...and though most people don't realize it, can wage outright war on their neighbors. Chemical warfare, physical warfare...it can be real ugly. So I don't generally recommend such a mix.
It is just something to keep in mind long term. You may want to specialize a bit in terms of what you predominantly want to keep.

thanks for the advice! i'll keep that in mind when setting up my 90. i didnt spend much on this tank and over 1/2 of my corals were free. i used it as a prcatice run i guess you could say. while setting this one up, showing pictures and asking questions i've learned alot of things that i did wrong and that i did right. i'm happy to get any and all suggestions and comments because they help me learn.
thanks all!
Oh yeah, and compliments are nice too kat! Thanks

I got bored and decided that all of a sudden I didnt' like my rockwork. So I did some rearanging (not much) and added another rock. I also got a new neon green candycane (free) that's about to split! Also my green star polyps are already growing and have attached themselves to the rock (which is why i couldn't move much around) enjoy the pics!

Looks good...Your bubble is really doing good too....Funny I have had the same 2 headed candycane for months....Does nothing...It seems to have grown in size (rounder)...but no new heads....
What's the stick looking thing in the left back??

i forget what it's called. it was a freebee also. usually it has long purple polyps that make it look fuzzy. BUT, that stupid arrow crab keeps walking on my corals and making them close up. He's sooo going into my 90 to help cycle it with teh damsels. if he lives, then good for him, if not well i wont cry.

I finnaly found my baby star! When I first got him I wasn't able to take a pic so since he was on a red rock and easy to see I snapped a pic for you guys! Also, Big News! My clown has decided that he LOVES my bubble coral and spends most of his day there. It's hard to get a good pic of him because he's so small and never stops moving but I did my best. enjoy!

Looks good. That is a Asterina star I think. Right Ophiura. I just got a bunch of them with some new purchases.

you would probably know better than me. i just know that it is some kind of sandsifting star. the guy has a ton of them in his tank and alot of corals, so it's not the kind that eat corals.
does anybody know if they get any bigger?

The Arrow Crab may get at some of your Corals. Also, I wouldn't get an Anemone, it will be everywhere in a 10g. It will take up too much space, IMO.

No nems for me. I decided you were right about that and i dont think i'm ready for it anyway. corals stress me out enough as it is. lol! I did move the arrow crab to my 90 that is basically empty save for the 5 damsels i just put in there.
I went to the lfs today and finnaly got a power head for the tank. it's a marine land tiny one. it was used and only $10. i wanted a korila nano but the lfs sells them for $45 and i can get them online for $30 after shipping. so this one will work for now. I also got some more nass snails(huge!) and some other kind of turbo? snails that are huge! I wanted a red serpent star but they only had the ugly grey ones so i got one of those also.
One of my fellow reefers neer by sold me 3 purple kenya trees (mounted), three polyps of texas trash, and one random blue polyp for $10. they are much prettier than they look in the pics!
Enjoy the pics! If anybody knows what kind of snails the large black shelled ones are I'd love to know too!

Are those Starfish reef safe??
its a serpant or a bristlestar??
Cool looking tank too i have had a kenya tree in my tank for a while now it started out as big as 1 of yous (a small frag) and is huge now

There is no biological difference between serpent and brittlestar - two different names for the same animal. They are reef safe, though the green brittlestar is a known predator in the wild. Asterina stars are NOT sand sifter stars, they feed on surface films, and most are fine to have.

Thanks! The guy at the LFS said that this one would eat poo and stuff. So that's why I got it. If that's not accurate then "oh well!" it's still cool to have! lol!

what should i feed it? i tend to over feed my tank anyway with brine shrimp and such. i only have one baby clown but i have alot of corals that like to eat it too! they get alot of the extra. (dont worry i do weekly water changes)

so, nobody knows what to spot feed a serpant star? Well, I guess i'll just let it scavenge like it seems to want to do.
On another note, my bubble coral that was the size of a tennis ball when i bought it, is now double that size. I've only had it for 3 months! It's so big that it presses itself against the glass! Can you frag a bubble coral? how? hmmm. maybe i'm not ready for something like that. that may be too hard for me.
