Regarding the blueberry gorgonian... unfortunately, this is usually what happens with them and why they are so difficult, nearly impossible, to keep in our aquariums, and it's a shame, because it's such a beautiful little critter.
I know that they cannot tolerate any type of algae build up or anything else that can smother it because it doesn't have the ability to "brush it off". Even though you moved it to a higher flow area and manually remove the stuff, it will keep coming back and eventually kill the whole thing. I had a small, small frag of one a year ago and it did the same thing until all its little polyps died off and the branches lost its coating and it turned dry as a stick. (well, as dry as a stick could be underwater
)

I would love to frag the hammer but its all one piece, nothing to fragg but flesh
Don't think I can do it. the frogspawn only has 2 trunks so I will be able to get it to half it's size but that's it. Can't wait to do the gsp

awwww, that poor gorgonian.
Unfortunately, those blueberry gorgonians are known not to do well in our tanks. Glad that you were able to frag some off to let it live on.
and I've gotta say that I have no idea how you guys like to frag things. I figure it must be messy.... tools... glue... ugh!
I absolutely hated glueing rics to a rock. I had super glue EVERYWHERE! I even dropped a dollop on top of a ric and tried to wipe it off and it got all slimey. I thought that ric was a goner. When it settled into the tank, the glue mixed in with the slime and I was able to just peel it off. Whew! But I hated every minute of messing with that stuff.
I hope the candy cane pulls through for you! The tank may be looking a little bare, but it still looks great and it only means one thing... TIME TO GET MORE!!!!~

Oh yeah, forgot to tell you... while I was ranting about how much I hated working with the superglue, I saw the funniest thing today and I should have grabbed my camera to take a pic. (plan to tomorrow!
) anyway... one of my little dwarf blue legs was having trouble getting around so I looked to see what was wrong with him and at first I thought that he was holding a piece of rubble or something, but when I saw him trying to get around, I noticed that his front two middle claws were actually attached to this thing. Then I realized that this "thing" was actually a little clump of super glue!! He must have gotten on the ric rock while the glue was still tacky and got a clump stuck to him.
See?? The thing gets everywhere!!

OMG!!
that is soooo funny, and yes it is a mess, and it takes like 1hr to set up and another hour to break it all down, and like I said one slip with that drill and
I must of went thru about 5 pairs of gloves because I glued them together! but I like the result and it's like therapy to me! besides the oop's it is a very peaceful and satisfying project when you are done and you really think about what you just did! I got a little silly and glued a small pulsating Xenia to a big blue leg
he did not think it was funny
It only lasted 1day he must of rubbed it off, some crabs just don't appreciate anything~! I was just trying to help him get a little action!

I ma getting some red algae on the bottom of both of my tanks, any ideas? water test OK, could it be too much light? i keep the lights on in both tanks for 12hrs a day. I have not changed that in months, i do weekly water changes and have not changed the amount of food soooooo
any help would be great!

Check po4 it sounds like cyano. Increase flow in that area it will usually not like high flow and will die back. There are chemicals on the market that will kill it too. Blue Vet Rx makes one called red slime control, works pretty good.

well...sold my hammer and the last frogspawn today
but making room for the ric's
I did some rock work and I think I have THE best spot for them, I hope they will be here tomorrow!! i wont have time tomorrow nite for pic's so I promise to have some up Wend. for sure! that is if anyone cares...nobody comes around anymore
