Yeah I wouldn't put another cuc or nudibranch in my dt or shrimp either..ray eats the shrimp.
OK Question...why cerith snails? What do they do that the others (nassarius for example) don't?
They eat detritus, uneaten food, fish waste, and algae.nassarius do not like their vegges so not algae

Hey would you put a serpent star in your dt (or mine)? Just thinking about getting one or two and am curious what your opinion is on them...they seem harmless according to what I have read.

Joe, I have been rinsing my overflow prefilters every other day cause I have noticed if you don't, your water levels get messed up...anyway tomorrow I am going to take out the big blue block and rinse that...Do I need to put something in its place while I do this?
Or do I need to turn return pump off?

definatley! You guys are a hoot! I especially enjoy the fact that joe's advice seems to flow more freely after a cocktail.

And why do your water levels get mixed up? (Yes this is a test). I always turn off my pump when I clean any mechanical filter media, not to do so may allow over time items suspended in your water column to impact your pumps I do keep my power heads on
Note are you using the blue filter block to support the divider

I should not have said "mixed up" I mean the levels change...ok they change because when the pre-filters get stuff on them it limits the flow going into sump...therefore the level in the tank rises...
Am I right? LOL
NO, the divider is held in place on its own...so I can take the blue foam block w/o disturbing the sand bed and stuff....
SO ...turn pump off when I clean blue block?

Turn off the pump in the sump (sounds like a good title for a song)

You know, I am guessing because the return pump is still pumping into the tank the same amount of water, and when the limit of the flow occurs in the dt...less water is getting to the sump.....IDK

LOL...yes words to the song anyone...you crack me up
gotta have my daily dose of JOE
