Not necessarily. City water typically has some amount of phosphate, dissolved metals etc. that while okay for us is not okay for the marine tank. I buy a 2.5 gallon jug of distilled water from the grocery store to do my top-offs with.

No. Only ro water or distilled should be used in a reef. If it was fish only you could get away with it, but not with a reef. Also you should definitely mix your own water. I used to buy the premixed stuff until a huge algae outbreak made me start mixing my own. I now have very very little growth if any. YOU should be in control of the most important thing in your tank...the water
It will cost about $30 to have a salt mixing setup. All you need is a bucket, small powerhead and a little heater. Probably could be done for a lot less than $30 actually, but thats about what I paid.

just found a bottle of water in my fridge that says "Enhcned with minerals for fresh taste purified drinking water. purified by ozonation, advanced filtration and reverse osmosis technologies"..
when i pourd it into my tank it looks too weird, im assuming it was cuz it was mixing with the salt water right?.. the fish swam righttt through it and seemd like he loved it haha.. this water is fine right?

Absolutely not. Minerals are what we are trying to take out of the water. That is the whole purpose for ro or distilled water.

Lol, I know, not what you wanted to hear. But now you know. Good to hear your calcium is in an acceptable range for coral

I have like 7/8 they don't come out during feed ever, I only see them at night when the lights go off and its pitch black, I go down to get a drink of water before bed and I look inside and they are all on the glass....

haha yeah i geuss soooo!
My friend just got a 55 gal tank (used off craigslist) with about 120 pounds of live rock in there.. with all sorts of goodies on it... to be honest the tank looked beat the fuckup but some of the coral was decent.. besides the fact that the coral was sitting in his driveway with the liverock and everything for a good 12 hours while we cleaned the tank as much as we could. Everything looked dead when we put it in the tank... now (5 days later) all these cool button corals opened up. They look cool as hell with a lot of other random stuff. I was a little iffy about putting any of his coral that he offered to me in my tank but atter i saw they were doing alright he gave me 1 little rock with 1 button coral on it.. figured what the hell, ill throw it in the tank.. opeend up instantly. Looks like some of the little hairs are them are a little beat up but i hope my clean tank cures her up.
do these things spread or not really? no pictures.. sorry =[.. wasnt worth a shot of 1 stupid little button coral.. lol

oh taking a picture is worth it you lazy bum! it sounds like a zoa. I think they will spread if water conditions are good, they get enough lighting. I'm not sure if it needs to be fed or not, it may get most of its energy from the light. I'm still learning about corals, wish i had a solid answer for ya.

actually just read up on them now.
Feeding them is optional, helps growth. Its a type of polyp which needs very low lighting and does not require much of a current.

Polyps usually filter feed. Hope they spread for ya, pretty neat stuff.. i found a lil polyp on one of my rocks in my 12G, but rock all the way in back on bottom
