If thats honestly the one you feel like is best for you, then go for it. I'm just worried about the heating issues of your tank, especially since the tank is in your office and you are not always around to monitor it. Have you talked with anyone who has the kit? have you tried snooping around on nano-reefs dot com and asking there as well?

Nanocube 12 gallon = 14.8" high.
Biocube 29 gallon = 20.1" high.
I have the 150 watt sunpod on my 29 biocube.
My personal feeling is even though I do not have a PAR meter the lighting provided is serving my tank well. SPS LPS clam and softies are all doing well with good color and growth. I have not seen any heating issues as far as increased temperature.
Looking at the depths above for the Nanocube 14 gallon I think I would most likely pic the 70 watt Sunpod, unless I could see an upgrade in tank coming in the future. In that case I would get the 150 and hang it some how that it would be higher off the tank.
JMO FWIW

The Nanotuner upgrade is not a bad choice if you will be satisfied that this tank will not house clams and high end (anything but some montipora and maybe some brown birds nest) SPS. All softies and LPS will do fine in there.

i was kinda down for an electric clam but its okie, i can live without.
As far as heating issues go. I have read the temp is LOWER then stock. It has better fans then stock and a HEAT SHIELD. I am not going to be geting INSANEEE corals as i would sad trip if they died. I will be getting softies, bubles etc.. nothing MAJOR..
i have read on other forums of people "LOVING" there upgrade. Nothing i came across about people complaining about heating issues.

When I talked about heating issues above it was in regards to the metal halide options, not the Nanotuners conversion.
Just so you know I also did the nanotuners mod to my 29 biocube hood and IME I saw no
drop in temperature.

well thats good news then about the nanotuner upgrade. You are doing your research
Maybe i'm just paranoid lately because of my heating issues.

Yeah the option was going from stock 72 watts - two bulbs to the upgrade 144 watts - 4 bulb.
I liked it for the time I had it. Everything I had did well, no temperature change at all. Got the upgraded fans, upgraded moon lights. All in all was a good deal, then went to the Sunpod. Stupid should have, for me anyway, gone with the Sunpod in the first place.

in my case with the 20" sunpod... i think will be 2 much power. Dont want to sunburn these things..
i wont be doing any crazy corals either.

i dont know, figured this was brand new? used the stock hood? looks much cleaner
pretty much 100watt pc lighting vs 70watt metal halide.. is it not the same thing?..
i could be completely wrong.. but from my understanding i am pretty much getting the same lighting output as the sunpod.. just in my STOCK HOOD.. unless there is somthing i am totalllyyyy missing here. feel free to share. If you guys think i am making a mistake, please stop me while im a head.

Well again it is all in what you want to accomplish.
No 100 watts of PC lighting is not the same as 70 watts of Metal Halide. The depth to which the light reaches through the water is much shallower in the PC lighting than that of the MH.

Another thing to keep in mind is how much it costs to replace the bulbs.
Sunpod=$60. good for 12 months
PC=$80. good for 8 months

mannn, now you guys are making me sad trip.. LOL.. im not sure now what to go with.
So 100% i get better output with the sunpod 70watt vs the 100watt pc?..
i can have "clams" with this "sunpod" you guys are saying to get

after an hour or two of research, i have come to find out they have 20" 75 watt sunpods as well .. but eh i guess ill wait
also i read from MANY users from reef-keepers that the 150watt is not overkill and some say it is..
ALOT of people are running 75watt with clams (placed higher up) and a sort of all kinds of corals!..
final decion will be a 75sunpod.. but from what i have read, seems like trying to get one is harder then geting a hold of the president. Im going to be e.b.ay batteling for quite some time.
i also came across the steal of a centry while researching, found a guy less then 15 miles away from me selling a 24gal nanocube w/ stand for 75$!!!.. i msgd hiim waiting for his call.. lol
