CLS meaning closed loop system am i right?
i don't really know what deciphers a closed loop system... is it b.c our return line ends at one point and not all the way back around? so far i like it, i used both number 1 and number 2 ball valves to adjust the flow( the third ball valve isnt necessary because we don't have much flow going to the 4th inlet into the tank as is). we are getting good flow back into the tank, so i think its working well. still just the first week but everything is running smoothly.
what should i do about run time of UV, skimmer, and lights? i also have 3 1 watt blue lunar rights... should i set those up now and run those all night or is there still to much oxygen in the sand...tanks been up since saturday the 27th
again, thanks for all of ur comments and advice. ill get some pics up of the tank to show u the 73 pounds of rock we got

well a lot of people have a what you have done for a return line, but as their CLS - closed loop. reason being, that with a CLS their is virtually no head loss, and you be experiencing a massive loss in GPHs. maybe not, i hope it works for you.
skimmer and UV run 24/7 , lights should yield around 10 - 12 hours of light a day

ok ill go run the skimmer and UV...
ok so tell me again why i might be loosing GPH's? also, if the pump was going any faster we would have to cut out some more teeth in our overflow which we dont really want to do, we seem to have the water levels dialed in by now.. but i would love to know more about this CLS and how ours relates to it.
thanks for all your help

I'm so embarrassed to say what I'm going to tell you guys. and I'm still in shock. but, when my dad and i were putting our canopy back on... 2 of our lights ( the blue actinic ) feel and shattered on the ground. my dad was so mad and i was going to cry, it was the worse feeling ever, i felt like i didn't want to press forward anymore b.c of all the time, money and sweat we put into this and now this happens...well anyways it was horrible. and now we have to spend around 60 or so dollars to replace the blue lights that had about 10 hrs of run-time on them!!!
