New 300 gallon In-Wall tank build

Got the new bulkheads and some more DI resin in the mail today. I will start draining the tank and hopefully start filling with RO/DI later next week.
I think I have a plan for the sump. From left to right it will be skimmer-return-fuge. The fuge will take up half the 75 gal tank and the skimmer a little more than a foot and the remaining will be for the return. The skimmer section and fuge will be feed separately from the dual overflows.

Got the new bulkheads painted and installed, I'm happy with it. The flow is much wider and more turbulent than before.
Here is a crappy video of the Herbie overflows taken with my phone. The humming is the Dart CL pump. There are a few bubbles going into the sump but that's only because all the air had not been purged out of the 14' runs of PVC from the returns to the sump.
The pump is an backup 1000gph pump that will be used on my pond.
Have not decided on a return pump yet but it will be much more than 1000GPH.
The valves on both return lines are a little more than 1/4 open so they can handle a lot more flow. Even with the dual overflows it was easy to adjust the flow so that there is only a trickle of water going through the emergency drains.

Started to fill the tank since it will take a few days.

In the meantime I'll finish up on a few odds and ends.

Tank is about 80% full now so I turned on the CL and dumped in two buckets of salt and some of the sand. I need to go out and buy more today. I only want a 1"-2" sand bed.
Also waiting on the glass shop to cut the glass....who knew that I would have to wait 3 days for six small pieces of glass.
Also need to go out and get some test kits... I haven't used them in years....I was lucky in that the 125 was really stable so once the old tests expired I never replaced them. Plus I was thinking of using some of the old water from the two trashcans I've been storing my live rock in and I want to make sure the levels are ok. I replace 10 gallons in each can every time I do a waterchange on the temporary tanks. Rock still looks good and there are always little snails, starfish and pods floating and swimming around when I take off the lids. But I want to be sure before I add it.

Nice!! You are really starting to move now.
Cool video on the overflows. Sounds very quiet, I am glad you were able to incorporate the "herbie" style overflow into your system. I love reading all these big tank builds we have going on around here lately. I am a bit jealous.

Just pulled the trigger and ordered 2 of the WP40s. I think theses will work out well to start. With the tank 100% full & with the new bulkheads now I can finally get a sense of the flow from the CL. If I put one of the WP40s on each end of the tank I think I will get the overall affect that I want.
On a separate note I was just selected to be a beta tester for Aquailluminations new Director Platform... This should be interesting.

These WP40's are on fire lately. I am interested in seeing Gemmy's complete review. If they are as good as advertised, than I think you will have great flow in the big tank.
AI Director Platform??? Tell us more about it. How did you get that gig?

I signed up to be a beta tester back when I first ordered the Vegas. I just had to input a little information about the new tank and which AI fixture I would be running.
AI Director is software that has apps for iPhone, iPad & Android for programming AI lights. There is also an online website called “myAI”. This is supposed to allow you to control multiple lights over different tanks on the phone or computer. I guess I get to help work out the bugs.....

The glass shop finished the baffles so I got them siliconed in place. I have done multiple sumps before and by far this is the sloppiest, I guess I was in a hurry to get it done.
Here are a couple of pics of the finished stands. The stand in the corner under the RO filter is for the 32 gallon brute used for waterchanges.
After the sump cures I will get all the plumbing finished.

That looks awesome, man. I'm still in the process of catching up on the last 8 pages of this build. I love 300DD but I think I might give up the 6" in width for 2' in length. You have such a nice space to work in. You're definitely building some peoples' dream tank here.
Another person going for the WP40's! Geez, I better look into these things; if they have so many peoples' interest they must be something good.

You have such a nice space to work in. I love the size of this tank. It fits perfectly in the space that I have to work with, anything bigger would be too big, It simply would not fit. You're definitely building some peoples' dream tank here. Thanks again, definitely something that I've wanted to do for a while..... Funny, my dream tank would be Acrylic51s

I have always liked 300DD (72" L X 36" W) and told myself when I move from this house that will be my upgrade. After seeing the pics of this tank (96" L X 30" W) I might reconsider and sacrifice the 6" of W for 2' in L

I'd give up the length for width anytime.....Trust me see them side by side.....The width just adds a whole new dimension. Even at 48" still wish deeper.....I've done the 8' long tanks and.....just wasn't as pleasant to aquascape IMO.....

For the space that I had to work with I like the length, but I would love to have gotten deeper. I can't imagine a tank with 48" depth.... The aquascaping possibilities would be amazing.

Got all of the live rock out of the trash cans and into the display last night and although I don't have it where I want it I can already tell I'm going to need a few larger pieces to get the look that I want. I'm going to fill the frag tank today and get it plumed into the system. I'm also going to clean and move the QT into its permanent location and begin to find new homes for the Yellow and Kole Tangs. But before I do anything my wife told me that I HAVE
to put the wall back up in the upstairs half bath..... I really don't have an issue with it...... but I guess my Wife is more modest than I

So I'm off to Lowes to get some drywall......

So I hooked up one of the WP40's. I've never had a wave maker before so I really don't know what to expect. Based on what I've seen on other videos I think that I am getting good results.
Here is another crappy video of just one of the WP40's shot from the opposite end of the tank. What do you guys think considering that this wave is generated 8' away?
