New custom 20g stand

The framing is not quite finished. I still want to cross brace both sides, and put some additional support in the front and center. It's also missing a leg. lol.

The red is some of the stuff that I want to do to the stand. A couple of the boards will actually need to be taken out, or moved. I'll work on it more tomorrow after work. :D So far, I'm happy with it. I'm going to use the 3/4" cabinet plywood with the gunstock stain.
I'm going to route the plywood top, to make a nice edge around the middle. I'm also going to put a piece of plywood flush with the bottom of the stand. Of course, the sides and front will also be ply-wooded in.
The side cabinets and the canopy will be built separate from this stand. That project will be made completely out of 3/4" plywood.

Alright, so my dad took a look at it and gave me a few pointers... (as always, lol) So, this evening I did a little more work to the frame and this is what I got:

So, basically, now I can basically sit on it and move around and it's pretty much solid as a rock. It was skewed a little, but I got it all fixed up. I also got the frame adjusted and flushed for fitting plywood. I have soo much space underneath the tank now. In fact, I know exactly how I want to place my algae scrubber now... and I am going to put the 5 1/2g RO Water storage tank beside the sump, and put it on a float switch, when I get the chance and money. Won't be that hard to do at all.
I also bought plywood today! woohoo! I'll be bracing up the top and bottom of the stand a wee bit more tomorrow, and then maybe putting a few pieces of plywood on it as well.
How hard can it be to put a piece of plywood on top of the bottom boards and cut out all the places where the legs go?

Alright, so I braced the stand up just a weee bit more today. I didn't take any pics because I didn't think it was enough of a change to warrant one. I marked out all of the cuts for skinning the stand. I'll cut the side panels tomorrow and fit them on square. Then I have to consider doing the front on Friday or Saturday. I think the stand is progressing very well so far. I guess I'm going to have to pick out some base trimming before I can measure the plywood for the front of the stand. Just going to take it one weekend at a time. lol. Even when I get the plywood tacked on, I still have to paint the entire inside with a waterproof gloss white paint. Then I gotta somehow design an area for my scrubber to fit, and do some electrical work... UGH! A lot of work to do , but I know it's going to be all very well worth it in the end.

Spanko - I did consider it, however I'm not going to do it that way. Pond liner just doesn't look as good as a cleanly sanded and painted surface.
TQ - first of all, congrats on 8,000 posts! Also, flex seal does sounds pretty interesting and it would be water proof... Maybe spraying some on the bottom of the stand would waterproof it more than chalk and a few coats of paint... But that stuff is expensive, isn't it?!

Thanks TQ, I'll look into it more before I get my stand finished. I p[lan on getting all the woodwork done to it and then do the inside and then the outside. The problem I'm having now is that it's becoming just a little bit too big of a stand for my apartment... I'm going to have to move some furniture around. :(

You know what I just realized! This stand I built can hold a future aquarium:
110g tall
90g show tank
55g
75g
Or any other tank that needs a 48x18 or 48x12" top. Hah. I was planning ahead without even realizing it. LOL!!!
Now that gets my mind going for next year. Hehehehe

Yeah. I almost have it skinned now. Finishing it up this afternoon. I hope to get paint this evening for the inside. I might even get the trim too but I have to get another piece of plywood for the doors and top cabinets. :(. I want to get it done!!!
