New NANO help please?!?

Salinity should be 1.024-1.025 for a reef. You cannot keep chaeto in that hob filter unless you take the lid off and give it light somehow, it is a plant and needs light for photosynthesis. Otherwise you will just have rotting and decintegrating chaeto. Go to the store and get (or request) Chemipure. It is a bag of stuff to put in your filter. IMO you dont need to skim with such a small tank; water changes should suffice. Get a phosphate reducing agent to put in the filter with the bag of chemipure, and you could also get Purigen (you put like a spoonful in a mesh bag and also put that in the HOB).

well the filter is for a 55 gal. so i was kind of thinking that will be enough current.
also is 130 watts of power compact lighting enough for corals?

how many pounds of live rock and live sand should i have in my 10 gal

15 should be good. or you can mix.. do 8 lbs of LR and 6 or 7 lbs of base rock. LR at $6+ and base rock being $2-4

okay cool. my lfs sells live rock for 6 a pound. i dont know about the base rock. what about live sand? how much?

about 15lbs or so? if you get a 20lb bag then you can decide how deep you want it

ya all this tank I cant wait to see it! looks like it should be really nice. next year I will have to start up a 10G for school... can't have anything bigger than a 10G... kinda sucks. if I didn't already have my biocube all set up I would considered bringing that up... god only knows tho I would get the RA that knows its 14G not 10! haha

would it be possible for me to have a yellow watchman goby as well as the 2 clownfish or would that be to much bio load?

idk i learned that clowns actually produce more bioload then i though rotary knows a bunch about all that so hopefully he could answer that. the yellow watchman on the other hand would be good you should get a pistol shrimp to go along with it fun to watch the shrimp dig there whole and stuff. and i think i you might see more of the watchman cause he will feel more secure knowing he has a burrow to dart into
