I run the GFO and the carbon from Bulk Reef. Honestly I can tell a difference later in the day with the carbon reactor as the water clarity is unbelievable. I don't have an accurate enough test for phosphates. I do know you want some movement in your pellets and too much causes them to break down but grats on lowering your phosphates.

LOL...these have been this way for almost 2 years....I'm obviously not the paranoid one...haha....BUT it is nice to have a little more "floor" space

Meowzer....that's exactly what I meant.....
I've been having the debate inside my head and on my build thread about electrical outlets, and I've never had any issues like that....back years ago I use to use surge protectors and would get lazy or in a rush and never mount them up and never had any issues.

sorry to go backwards a bit Meowzer...
But do you think that ATO setup would work with the line attached to a 5 gal water jug?
Congrats on the phates reading too!

I have no idea....sorry.....Mine is hooked up directly into the ro/di maker......if it was in a water jug I think you would need some sort of a small pump.....MAYBE...LOL....BUT I think I read that somewhere

Having your ATO hooked directly to the RO/DI is an accident waiting to happen.

Float switch failure and it pumps water until you catch it. I can tell you that even with a small tank for an ATO I have had an overflow issue. I guess at that point its how much water do you want to mop up.
I am a little freaked out about electricity. My brother saw a few people die from small accidents. I have been shocked enough to know not to give it a chance if I can help it. With all that said and all the pumps in the water of our aquariums we could all be one dip away from death. But other than that how is your day going

WHY??
Over time that float switch will get clogged or "caked" with calcium and the float switch will stick open and will flood your system with fresh RO water. This has been a no no for long time. Been plenty of horror stories about this.

I have 2 spare floats......Just so I can change them out and keep them clean....
I have heard plenty of horror stories about a lot of the stuff we use....where do you draw the line
Do you have an ATO? If so...how do you do yours?

I use the Tunze ATO and draw from my water vat.....It has dual backups to shut the pump down....The Tunze relies on optical as well......You can see in the pics, the 1 brute can on the left is straight up RO/DI water, and the 2nd can is mixed saltwater, and the 1hp chiller beside that. The other pic shows the Tunze.

What is the blue and white thing next to it? Do you have to use a pump to get the water from the Brute to your tank then???

The little blue and white thing next to the Tunze controller and sensors is the pump it's small and comes with the setup.
