You see them alot in the gulf in the grass beds where the dwarfs are collected, where the tide is much calmer. I haven't had any problems at all in the lower flow tanks, I do tend to keep them closer to the center where the current would be the strongest. Keep in mine you would have much more flow that I do.
Well it can't hurt to try, they sure are pretty. Much better than fake junk.

here are a few older pics of my tank. I only have two horses now though. As soon as I can get rid of these flat worms, I will get some new ones.

Seems since I am not going to breed that I can get some Erectus seahorses. A lady that lives nearby has some babies for sale for $45.00 each. I contacted her and said I wouldn't be ready to get anytng for about two months and she said she will still have some for me.
Thank You TeresaQ!
I love your tank, what kind of lights do you have to keep that type of coral?

Thanks, and congrats on finding the babies close to home. Captive home bred horses are always nice.
I have t5s on this tank .
also wanted to add, Peka is very nice, she and I went thru a batch of babies together, hers did well, for some reason mine did not.

How is the tank coming along. Its picture time again

I can’t get anything to happen with ammonia going down after I got it to peek. Nitrites are 0. I have never cycled a tank like this and I never will again. I always had live rock and live sand and got almost immediate readings, then I waited a month before I added the first fish, I never got any type of ammonia spike.
I put a few pieces of live rock from my 90g in there hoping to give it a little help, along with about three pounds of live sand mixed with the aragonite. I may make a trip to the LFS for some cycle to add to it.
I even cleaned the sponge from my 90gs overflow into the tank water, to try and add bacteria. I also heated the tank to 82 about 3 days ago thinking the cooler temps may have kept everything in a suspended state.
I’m frustrated, so now I am making new saltwater to do a water change. The water is crystal clear, I removed the top and set the fish light angled on top so it won’t fall in the tank. I plan to replace the light with a T5 or something. The lower tank is going to be a sump/refugium, I’m using a 305 Fluval for the now until that is up and running.
The picture shows what I’m looking at. The 2 pieces of fake coral in the tank right now are just to give bacteria something to grow on and the live rock is only 3 small pieces.

Ya, throw in some liquid bacteria, it should be fine.
How long has it been set up now??
what is the blue coral, I like, though a little deep I think????. It would make a nice feeding dish-what does it look like inside.

LOL...That blue Fake pagoda cup is from my first SW tank. At first I thought the same thing, but I think it is too deep for a feeding dish, it's about 2 inches in there and very narrow. I added it for bacteria to grow on it, at the time it was the only thing I had in there. Then I found the red one and put that in there..then I put some small rocks from my 90g.
I will go get some cycle here in a minute. You would think with all the rock, live sand there would be enough bacteria. The tank was started on December 23rd. so it should be doing something. I only upped the temp the last few days however.
I'm going to go to Lowes and get some glass cut for baffles for the lower tank and get the sump build started.

it dosent look to small around, just a little deep. maybe you can fill the bottom with silicon lol. the color would bring out color in your horses.

I was thinking about doing that, you confirmed it so that's what I will do, but I was thinking of using that putty you attach corals with to fll it because it was more like clay, not slicone.. How shallow should I make it?
I was also thinking I can also attach some hitches to that chunk of orange it has as a base using silicone. I picked up some cycle and put it in there. I can't find anyplace around here that will cut some glass for baffles..Lowes nor Home Depot will in my area. So I guess I have to find a glass place.

Wow. You've been a busy bee!! I've been away from the boards during most of the holidays. Now that the water has cleared up, it's easy to see how fantastic that rock wall is going to look. Throw some cycle bacteria or Microbacter7 in there if you're ammonia isn't going down yet. It'll happen...slow is always better here.

I have to go to work..Glad your back.
I have never cycled without live rock and live sand..This is very new. I can wait that isn't a problem, I'm just concerned something isn't right. I dumped some cycle in there so I will let it cook. It looks so empty and sterile doesn't it?
Bye for the night!

How well do things need to be anchored down, how strong is a seahorse tail when they hold on? I need to know how heavy the decor needs to be, if plastic plants are suitable.

I had a plastic plant in my tank....one type had the weighted bottom
and the other type had the plasric cup like bottom, and I filled it with sand.....they both worked fine

Thanks, I wasn't sure of the strength they pull on things. Plastic plants never had a chance in my freshwater tanks with just fish, they always landed up floating and I wasn't sure of the weighted type..

What kind of lights do real marine plants need? Stuff like shaving brush, or mermaids tale..Is it the same as macroalgae needs?

ok, I did a search on the other forum, and found a thread stating that pc's would be fine for most macros. Since you dont have a deep tank, you can also keep mushrooms, and other soft corals if you want. I would do at least a 4 bulb set up though, a 4 bulf T5 would be nice too and the bulbs last longer

I agree with Teresa here..... if you're going to spend some money on a PC fixture, you might as well spend just a little more on a 4 bulb T5 system.
