No problem. Cool, my tank was 17" tall and it was about 3-4 inches off the bottom so it should work. I'm already up at work so I'll try to get up to UPS on my lunch break and send it off your way. If you think of anything else please try to let me know in the next couple hours. :)

Don't use up your lunch break...it can wait to ship at your convenience. You have done so much already, you should be able to relax at lunch time.
I do believe we are good to go! It looks just perfect for what I need.

Betrayer to the enemy!!! LOL...I would say what can they do to PVC pipe but I don't dare.

Shawn hasn't said much about them lately...I would so love to take them on national TV before Judy Judy or something.
I have been looking for a PM...Now what is the final ding on what you spent on that new Corey Gizmo?

I still need to get an in sump skimmer, the skimmer chamber is 12 X 10 no bubble trap. Sump and DT are 30g each..I know seahorses are messy so I need something good...
$300.00 - $400.00 is the budget...can I get some suggestions?

Hey Flower, Why don't you try your Coral life skimmer in the sump. it might work better in the sump. Worth a try - just my 2cents.

You know, I really liked the Marineland Pro 100 that I used on my 110g tank back in the day. It worked surprisingly well for such a small, relatively inexpensive skimmer. It's 18 inches tall, so you'll need probably 24 inches clearance to comfortable work with it, and the min/max water level is 3 to 8 inches. I raised mine up on an eggcrate stand in the sump so I could keep a deeper water level running through the fuge section. Always pulled a good quality gunk.
I see that Hydor Koralia now markets a pair of skimmers also.... you could possibly try those out. I have no idea regarding quality, but hey - their powerheads are good, right? Gotta be some quality control in that plant somewhere!
Personally at some point I'm going to switch to a Tunze nano and see for myself hot that fares. I like my little skimmer that I own now, but I'm always feeling like the skimmate is kinda watery.

It's too tall, it's 25 inchs and my clearance is 22...I promised it to someone who can use it. I was thinking about one exactly like the Octo I put in the fist sump, but then I started thinking it was too big for a 30g. I read some place that a skimmer too large for your needs won't skim right. Do they even ake an Octopus for a 30g? Now Nova mentioned one made for a 110g so I don't know how true that is.

Check this one out.
CPR SR2 Protein Skimmer

The SR2 is suitable for aquariums in the 10 to 60 gallon range. The unique design places the air inlet venturi prior to the pump impeller achieving an effect similar to needle-wheel skimmers in that the impeller chops the bubbles into the water giving smaller bubbles and improved contact time. The bio-filter section includes shaved plastic "Bio-Bale" which acts as both a biological filter and a bubble trap to prevent small bubbles from returning to the tank. For in-sump use only. Required water pump is included.
Experts are learning that protein skimming is critical for marine aquaria, particularly sensitive reef aquaria. As a system matures, protein skimming can become the most important type of filtration.
Some of the compounds that the CPR protein skimmer will remove include: soluble proteins, amino acids, organic dyes, fatty acids, carbohydrates, enzymes, detergents, some metal ions, iodine, phosphorus, algae cells, protozoa, bacteria and tiny particles of detritus.
Of all the various filtration methods available to the marine aquarist, only protein skimming removes most organic from the system before they break down into toxic ammonia and nitrite compounds.
All skimmers are produced with high grade acrylic which allows for the use of ozone without discoloration or damage, and they all have removable collection cups for easy cleaning.
In-sump use only.

  • Maxi-Jet 1200V.

  • Recommended for aquariums up to 60 gallons.
    7.25" X 6.75" Footprint (including pump).
    16" Height

Well it sounds good ...I looked it up....I had a CPR that I hated, it never skimmed anything. It looks just like the dreaded usless HOB one. It even has the same cup and blue bio junk on one side...
Hey you found me a good one last time...Keep looking...PLEASE.

I always liked my remora c -what about this
Urchin In-Sump w/ MaxiJet 1200 Kit Features:

  • Model # : Urchin In-Sump w/ Drain Fitting

  • Tank Size (Gallons): 20–75

  • Included Pump: MaxiJet 1200
    Skimmer Height: 18"
    Footprint:6" x 4.75"
*Urchin and Urchin Pro need an additional 6 inches for collection cup removal. Minimum height needed for easy maintanence is 24 and 26 inches, respectively.
Finally, a small sump skimmer that requires no plumbing, fiddling with, or constant maintenance. The Urchin is the newest addition to AquaC`s line of innovative protein skimmers that utilize spray induction technology. Based on the popular Remora, the Urchin is a sump model that is suitable for small tanks that don`t require the waste-removing power of the AquaC EV Series. No plumbing required, simply drop in the sump and plug in the pump! Unlike most sump skimmers, the Urchin does not need to be raised or tinkered with to maintain the proper water level. For those with larger mini-reefs, try the Urchin Pro.
The Urchin and Urchin Pro requires the smallest amount of sump space of any skimmer in it`s class:
AquaC Urchin footprint: 6" x 4.75"
AquaC Urchin Pro footprint: 7.5" x 5.25"

Is there any truth to a skimmer being too large for your system and not working?
I really like the Skimmer I have on my 90g, the sump chamber is just as small as on the 30g The sss1000 Octopus is rated for up to 110g..

I have no clue, but I run a ASM G4 on my 56 gal tank and its rated for a 350 gal tank lol. It came with the tank when I bought it. I have a G3 on my 150. I would have switched them, but the G4 would not fit into the sump of my 150.

Also meowzer..how hard is it to remove and re-attach the skimmer cup? I love the way the Octo just pushes on and off, I hated to use a twist lock on the coralife, so all cups are not created equal.

You know, if you like the one you have, and its only rated for 110 gal, why not just get one like it? you already know you like it.
Also did you look at the ASMs, the mini G -(135.00) or the G-1 (265.00) would also work for you and they come with a pump.
