Best I could get of this one. She went and hid in the macros almost the second she got in. My big girl is keeping her company if you look closely, though.

And the new male and second female playing tag underneath the Kenya.

And in case I didn't say it face to face (I was worried about that damn pump)........
THANK YOU, TERESA!! :rotfl:

The only bummer was today timing.... I had just enough time to acclimating the horses and make sure they were in good shape before dashing off again to a family dinner up in Stuart. I suppose its a good thing... They can relax and get used to the new surroundings without my ugly mug pressed up against the glass.
I'm not sure what kind of flow these kiddies were used to, but they seemed a little out off by the current in the tank so I turned off the two k1's for the time being.
Oh and meowzer....lol, bite your tongue! Let them settle in a little first!

Yup, you heard that right. Today was a very nice day, sunny and quiet, almost a perfect day for going across alligator alley to make the pickup. I met T and her wonderful daughter behind a cracker barrel.... Lol Teresa said we looked like we were doing a drug deal. Got the ponies for a VERY reasonable price, and even got a bonus horse! It was prearranged, but yes I did let a few people talk me in to keeping a male. I had a small stress moment when the battery operated pump I brought decided to flink out. Turns out the piston arm had just come loose from the electric motor, and a few minutes of tinkering got it running again. The drive home was slow and steady (tried not to sloth the cooler!) but we made it home with just enough time to acclimate before running out the door again. I just got home a few minutes ago, and if course I checked the ponies. Looks like they're already coming back to their proper coloration... Can't wait to see them in the proper light tomorrow!

Thus far today they're definitely still more interested in hiding inthe background, but they're coming out just a little more than last night. The male has been the sulkiest one so far (I can hear EVERY one of the women who read this thread right now!! ) but hopefully that won't last.

The largest male in my brood is also the most shy. The female goes all over exploring, the others follow her. How dwarfed are the noobs compared to your big girl?

The male is only slightly smaller than my original female. Tweedle-dee and tweedle-dum (our tongue in cheek names for the antics of the two new females) are both about 1/2 the size of the "older" female.

There are three horses in this picture. Good luck.

"I'll stay here in the corner, and you go hide. One, two, three....."

...but the mandarin had an ulterior motive in mind....

...although I'm sure it was altruistic. Knowing that the new horses didn't recognize the food shell, the male mandarin was determined to help feed his new tankmates by fanning the food around. And if he took a shrimp or three in the process, well, that's merely his due! Isn't it??

Yeah, they're pretty good at going unseen when they want to.
Meanwhile, I don't know what I pi$$ed off in there today, but I've developed a wicked rash on my right arm this afternoon. Itching and tingling in my fingers, spreading up to a burning sensation near my elbow. Weird. But the horses, fish, and coral look entirely unaffected, so I think I must have gotten some physical contact dermatitis from something. For now I'll just make sure to keep my arm out of the tank until it goes away....let's hope the feeding shell doesn't fall for a couple days (it has that habit.)

The horses look like they are doing great in their new home. I can relate to the dermatitis issue. I get that any time I do work on my tank even if I wear gloves.
