The Odd Couple....

A little clearer:

One of my conchs doing its thing:

The other one. A Loooooooong reach.

And it's still uploading, but I think I may have gotten some honest to goodness clear FTSs tonight! I wish my hands didn't shake so frelling much. I'll know for sure when the uploader finishes.
In the meantime, I did another 5g water change tonight. I'm geting back into my weekly groove, which is a good thing. I also pulled apart and completely cleaned my iceprobe chiller. It's lost about 30% of the white coating, and even though I know it says that it is "perfectly safe" even without the coating, I'm still a little iffy. Seems like it's not cooling as efficiently as it used to. I may be looking at buying a new one soon...

@ Gemmy: The Iceprobe was pretty good even in this sized tank until I upgraded my lighting. I had at least 3-4 degrees difference when I had PCs on this tank. When I went to MH, the iceprobe became less effective. It cools the tank, but only by a degree or two. The fan over the water also helps. Now that I'm in my own place and in complete control of the thermostat (yay!) I keep the house at 72 for my own comfort, and 70 at night....so that helps keep the tank down as well. I'd get a real chiller but I don't think it's in the cards right now. I would DEFINITELY recommend an IceProbe for tanks in the 10-30 gallon range with PC or T5 lighting.
@ Flower: My uploader is being a butthead. I'm sorry. I'm trying..... But....OTOH, I don't think the FTS will be seen here. It has to be only in the TOTM forum I believe.

This is not the clear one.

I love your tank, and the SH looks like it posed for the shot.... ...I haven't seen anything for Oct TOTM

It's over there now. Like I said, I' not sure of the rules, so I'm not double posting the picture.
I'm on the horns of a dilemma right now. I saw a pair of beautiful
fairy wrasse hybrids in the LFS yesterday. I mean, stunning. In a lot titled "assorted wrasse," for $20.00 each.
I want one.
But as you know....I'm still sans most of my furniture, and by extension without a proper QT tank. And to make matters worse....I just don't think the 37g tank can HANDLE the extra bioload. At a current total of 4 seahorses, 2 mandarins, and of course the snails, crabs, and starfish....I'm maxed. Frell, frell, frell.
Hmm. Maybe if I buy a 10g tank (what the hell, they're only 10 bucks, right??), use some bioballs from the seahorse filter, and call it a PROLONGED qt tank for the 110g setup......??
I'm so addicted to this hobby. It's really pathetic if you think about it.

WAIT.....you can keep a fairy wrasse with seahorses????? When dealing with a spouse, it is okay to set up a QT that becomes a new tank a little later. I would go 30g at least....I have a 30g tank and a 30g sump....figure out how to get them to your place in one piece and you can have them for free.

NICE!!
I really like that rockwork

Hey Slice, have you ever noticed that your rockwork and mine are very
similar? And our tanks are almost identical, too...37 and 47g columns. Great minds must think alike.
Like I said in your thread, I'm just a teeny bit jealous of that orange monti cap. I was very happy to see that you won TOTM last month.

SHHHHHH!!!! How do you think I plan to "give birth" to my 20g pipefish tank?? I already have EVERYTHING I need to start it up, but I was going to use the QT excuse when I went to start it. I don't think I can do that with TWO more tanks (nor do I want to, really....3 is enuff...).

One of these days I'll remember to turn the camera on its frikkin' side before I shoot a video, so it actually takes up the whole frame. I'm terrible at these things, but they're kind of fun to do.
You'll notice I didn't flinch away from a very, very sad coral in the tank. There's a dying chalice at 1:16 that has just refused to come back to life since it kept getting knocked on the sand back when the tank was at my Aunt's. I also think my placement aided in its demise....it's almost vertical. :-/ At this point I think it's officially too far gone, but I keep trying to feed it whenever I feed the corals.
