Yeah, it's still missing the pertanant info that I was hoping for.
I hate to say it but this is why I've tried to advise people in the past about certain products. Even though I've caught hell for it like I must not know what im talking about lol.
The reason why they say 8-12 leds is because there is a high and a low cut off point for voltage that you must fall within for the driver to work right.
Even though the driver says max 12 3watt leds I know full well that I could run more than that as long as the type of leds that I use and the amount fall within those requirements.
Parallel strings is a whole other story. I know I can run 36 3watt leds on that same driver if I ran them at a lower current.
But my best educated guess going by what I do know about most drivers is that its most likely has a max output voltage of 48volt which means the minimum is probably right around 24volts or higher. So im still leaning towards the idea that your string count is a little low due to the red leds being used. But again that's just a guess.
I'd probably be a little more helpful to ya guys if I could get my hands on it in person. But if you have any questions just let me know.
I'd say it's a VERY good guess, and I really appreciate the help. PLUS, there's an easy way to find out. I have a couple more LEDs around here. I'm going to see what colors (NO REDS) I have and wire 2 more LEDs into the circuit. I'll keep ya posted!!
I picked up a nice new Monti setosa at one of my local places today:
It's green with deep purple polyps. Really great price considering the size...$40 for the piece.
Here's a few more tank shots from yesterday:
Tank stats. Nitrates 0, Calcium 480, dKh between 9 and 10, pH 7.8, and Phosphates less than 0.25 (not yellow enough to say 0, but not near the color for .25) I didn't test for salinity, need to recalibrate the meter.
Number look great.
Personally, I had great success at po4 around .10 ~.15. My zoas like the water little dirty as well as some sps.
I can never get that much these days with my bio load though. Hopefully, I can get it down to about .15 with the bio pellets I'm running.
Just got back from dinner with Siptang and his better half....and of course picked up a couple frags he was holding for me from a dealer down here (thanks buddy!!)
Purple Grape Monti and an encrusting Superman Monti. Will need a few days to heal up after a small issue with a bulldozing snail (sigh) but they should be fine. I'm putting the purple midway down in the tank, out of the direct light, until it heals up and acclimates. Looking forward to maybe getting a few more zoas in the next couple days too!!
