I'm starting to wind down on coral purchases. Just a couple more that I'm interested in, then I'm just going to sit back and (hopefully) watch the sticks grow. I like my one Acro, and there's MAYBE one or two more I'd like to try, but I realized I'm much more a fan of the Pocilliporidae family.....Pocillipora, Stylophora, and Seriatopora.

Rick - I will show you the ora Marshall Island blue bottlebrush when you come visit me next time. Yours is just lacking polyp extension but skeletal density and colorations (specially the tip, reminds me of ORA miami blue orchid acro. :)

Those corals look really good!
That is one big reactor!
Thanks, bud!
PS.....text me if you have some hotel ideas. BTW, the actual hotel that's hosting MACNA has some SICK prices for their rooms. $124 per night, room assigned at check in. Seriously, you're going to be hard pressed to find a better room rate. That's near unbelievable for that particular hotel.

124 sounds freaking awesome... I may rent a room for me and mrs as well. Maybe the ladies can hang out together while us boys go have fun.

Hey Richard you were right about the polyp extension on that Acro. It was definitely bushy tonight when I came out for a late night feeding. It's currently soaking up some fish roe, oyster roe, rotifers, and other small foods. The main returns are off right now and all the corals are feeding.

Some closeup shots. I was playing with a few phone settings to try and get a little more realistic with color. This is pretty close to real life....
A new rock filled with Symmbodium colonies:

Acro colony. I think it's growing. I'm such an Acro newb, though. I'll be overjoyed if I can keep this coral.

This is that Pagoda that used to live in the horse tank, but it was losing a battle -- and a lot of tissue -- to the overgrowing Caulerpa algae in there. I moved into here to see if the warmer water will help its metabolism, and the algae-free conditions will hopefully allow it to heal up.

BOOM!

The pipe organ coral...also a transplant from the seahorse tank. Also a very slow grower in the colder seahorse tank. Looks much better in the big tank!

Here is a small 1-2" frag of an Australian War coral.

Acans...

Quick summary:
  • Corals were purachsed.
  • Corals have grown.
  • Fish have been purchased and died in QT.
  • Evil QT was determined to have bacteria from cheap and old sand, and the whole thing was thrown out.
  • New QT was purchased.
  • Fish started living more.Corals grew some more.Hilarious observations on South Florida life were made. Mostly by me.People laughed. Mostly AT me for thinking I could provide SoFla comedy.Sip and I made others jealous of our awesome reef club.Sip, Nova, and Traveler made others jealous because we got to meet and have dinner down here.
That's about it.
