Was just looking at my tank. I have a couple corals that are going to be transferred from the seahorse tank soon, so I'll take some pics this weekend after some new Zoas come in (Thanks, man!! You know who you are!!) and the seahorse corals get swapped.
I also need to decide if I want my purple whip gorgonian to go in the big tank.

You bet. See you at the meeting tomorrow. How is the grape monti doing by the way?

Grape monti has healed up the ripped tissue spots when it took a scrub on the sandbed. No other growth, but not worried...the other montis took a couple weeks to settle in to their new digs. As long as the tissue looks healthy, I'm a happy camper.

I admit that it's really cool to have a group of local people who share the same strange addictions. Most of the reef club members here are a little farther south than I am, so it's a bit of a hike to make it to the meetings, visit people, etc. But it's worth the time and gas $$ to spend some time with fellow weirdos, and I know that not everyone is so lucky. I'm indebted to Siptang for introducing me to these guys....I don't think I would have reached out on my own to a club that is (to me anyway) so far south.
Rae, have you looked around online to see about reef clubs in AZ? If you have any local fish stores, they usually have a good idea of the local and even not-so-local club events going on around your area. Heck, you could even go to the "reef club" section of that BIG reef forum and look in your region if there's anything. In fact, just a quick glance at that central reef site shows me that there are three AZ clubs that you might be interested in. Not sure of your location, so I can't narrow it down, but.......I would definitely look into it if I were you.
**EDIT BECAUSE I'M BLIND**
OK, so you're in Chandler. As it clearly states on your profile. Maybe I should use the eyeGoogle a bit more. And yes, it looks like there are a couple Phoenix clubs that might be up your alley.

That is precisely why you and lois should move down to south florida lol.

Biggest phosban reactor we ever saw.. complements of Julian Sprung. (I forgot to get a pic with him yesterday.)

Biggest skimmer that I have seen.

Outside growth stations.

Where was that taken? I'm in south Florida too, plantation specifically... We have quite a few lfs down here but same ole same ole gets dull. We have one store were pretty loyal to but otherwise the "chain stores" over charge for everything!!!! Love this build and the sea horse tank, we've been talking about sea horses for years and sounds like you've been through a lot with yours!!!

Hold the freakin' phone. You mean to tell me you're in South Florida, you're a member here, and we HAVEN'T gotten you hooked into FMAS yet?
Siptang, we've both been slacking. I'm ashamed.
Adee, These were taken at the Nova Southeastern Oceanographic Center in Dania Beach, right next to the naval yard. It was a beautiful location, and they're doing some fantastic work with Acropora growouts for reef replenishment at this facility. We spent an hour listening to two scientists talk about the different staghorn programs, both out on the reef and frag propagation in their onshore nurseries. They gave us a tour of the nurseries, and talked about the growth rates they observed in both experiments. Both Julian Sprung and Tony Vargas come to a lot of these meetings (they were both there last night) and it's a real treat to just hang out with a bunch of like-minded hobbyists. It's a great place to meet new friends, and every meeting I've been to has been informative.
Long Story Short: We should get together at some point. Let Richard and I drag you to the next meeting if you're free on Tuesday nights. If you have a significant other...spouses are always welcome (though mine never wants to go...boo.....)

PS if you're serious about a seahorse tank at some point, we should talk. I can help steer you in the right direction there.

Just look at that handsome guy!! Shame about his hair though.
Richard, these phosbans weren't from Julian...I think he recommended them tho. I was joking with him about it and said there was something wrong with the reactors. He got all serious, asked what was wrong, and I said, "there's no TLF logo on these things." You shoulda seen his grin.
Next time he's down for a meeting, I'll talk him into doing a boy scout chair lift with me with you sitting between. That'll be a photo moment.

Hello adee, richard here.
I live 15 mins away from you. (Weston) like rick said before, you and your husband should come to our once a month meeting. You will meet many great people and see amazing things that s.florida will offer for the hobbyists.

Hmm, picked up a couple purchases that Sir Siptang was holding for me....as well as a couple gifts since he was rearranging my tank. Came home with some 3 to 4-head frags of Magician palys, Safecrackers, X-men, Punk rockers (you know I'm never gonna remember these names, right??) and....because my wife likes them.....Gorilla nipples. THOSE I'm sure I'll remember the name of. Also have a few pieces of branching blue candycane and a delicious chocolate mint chip monti. Delicious because I'm on a diet and DUDE. I'm HUNGRY. }:-(
These are all acclimating right now; it's kind of late to go messing around with glue and epoxy. I'll play with that tomorrow. And yes, I WILL be doing some shots of the new items and the transplanted seahorse tank items.
In fact, I do have a couple shots I took tonight. But photobucket is being exceptionally useless tonight, so you don't get to see 'em. Sorry.

Oh, photobucket must have heard me. LOL Here.
The still-mystery Acro. I think it's growing. But I'm a total acro newb:

Here's the purple grape monti. It has healed nicely, now it can devote its energy to growing:

Pocillipora just gettin' bigger....

And the red poci is starting to grow out too:

Finally for tonight: One of my encrusting montis. Red and green (or red and blue). There's a designer name for it, but I just don't remember these things. Again....sigh....I just go for what I like.

Don't let the camera fool you on this last one. It looks bleached; it's not. It's growing well and it has encrusted over to the point where if I moved it, it would break.

Looking very good!!
And I am with you... I can never remember the designer names for corals. But the Gorilla nipples is pretty funny and memorable.
