I'm not sure I understand what you are asking so I'll try to answer what I think you mean.
The locals are scared. Scared of Government (remember what "government" meant under Saddam), scared of foreign insurgents, scared of Al Qaeda, scared of foreign soldiers, etc. They want Iraq to be a better place... they just don't want their families slaughtered in the process. 'this isn't so much "corruption" as it is learned behavior. They've seen their neighbors killed time and again for working for the Iraqi Government.

I agree with you, but how is that different from what our troops do? That is what my cousin was saying. We end up losing our men and women helping
rid countries of corruption/terrorists. It just seems there is still a lot of corruption in the Iraqi government (at least that is what I am reading/hearing)
What will (or can) Obama do about?

Or better than that I guess is let's kill unborn babies because we did not do anything to protect against unwanted pregnancy, like maybe abstinence??
What if a woman is raped? She should be stuck with a strangers child?

No. Nor should one from i n c e s t .
But a baby should not be killed because it's mother and father did not do anything to prevent the pregnancy, in other words abortion should not be a form of birth control.
However the point has been missed by you, the poster was ranting about killing animals but said nothing about killing babies. Just trying to see if there is any balance here. Maybe he just did not mention it or maybe he has a double standard?????

What if that strangers child is the guy who invents the technology that makes oil obsolete. Should we kill him?

Ok, I hve had time to digest this. While not supporting Obama he will have my support for now. He made a good speech, a couple things that stuck out but I may have been nitpicking at the moment and will not do that here.
There are some good things out of this. The phrase you can do anything or become anything in this country regardless of age, creed, race, or social upbring holds and rings resoundingly true. There is no longer any excuse for anyone. You want it, work hard enough, and don't give up, you can accomplish anything.
We will see how much was just pandering and lip service and we will see how much is actionable.
Right now Obama has a 52% approval rating. He received 52% of the popular vote. That means 48% do not approve of his proposed policies. As most presidents (with the last being the exception) he will have to move to the center to win over the rest of the population and do things to gain their support...this could be a good thing.
I see the republican party finally getting a wake up call...they will have to reassess their positions on some things and learn the base alone can not garnish a victory anymore....
So ladies and gentleman, sit down, strap in, and hang on, this is going to be a bumpy ride....there are a lot problems and we will find out if government can actually fix them or if history has proven correct and government just ruins things further.
On a really good note, gas is at a 3 year low!!!!

Let it run its course.... The people will eventually vote out those stealing from them; and then eventually start voting back into office those that will steal from them again...

What a beautiful ending. I have been volunteering for Obama's campaign and was really excited Florida went to him. Feels great to know all my hard work paid off. McCain's speech was very touching, Loved it, God Bless you. Congratulations President Obama....

Sad his Grandmother, Grandfather, Mother, and Father is not here to share this joyful moment with him. God Bless Him and Protect him.

So far this year, employers have announced 875,974 job cuts.
Its more becouse of the job loss rate.

I guess investors figured McCain had it in the bag.

There will be more to come if the employers are going to be hit wit higher taxes.
