He opposed going there in the first place as well. But I suppose we should just spend the next 100 years there, right?
You mean his little speech? So what, for all he knew Iraq was 6 months away from having a nuke. He never saw the intelligence reports so for all he knew there could have been videos of the weapons. .
But let's deal with what we know. More that a year ago Obama was calling for the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and voted against the surge. When in a position to matter and with the facts in front of him Obama got it wrong.

So, by this logic, why don't we just pull a hitler and take over the entire world, cuz who knows, maybe they will get a nuke.

Well, considering he wants to give middle class tax cuts, people won't just get handed money for doing nothing, you have to pay taxes to get a tax cut.
As for the rest of this post I really don't know what you are saying.

We still have the most productive workforce. (despite unions) The problem i see in manufacting is that wages are not based on productivity but tenure. And tenure isn't making the company any money.
Ok, let me start with saying that I totally understand this. But, as people age, they're productivity decreases in production jobs. So, we should quit rewarding people for their long term employment? Years of hard labor and then you are out the door b/c some 20 year old can do it twice as fast?? Seems this would hurt the economy more. Granted, IMO unions are hurting more in the automotive industry than helping, but in general unions are a necessary evil (also IMO).

what is wrong with that? They are operating based on their belief structure.
No problem for me. Just think it's laughable some rogue priest wants to disenfranchise his 'flock' based on his political views. Just one of the many reasons religion has its flaws. Let's use scare tactics with the ultra faithful that their souls will go to hades because of who they voted for in an election. What's hilarious is his devout followers will be going to Confession asking for forgiveness and penance for voting for Obama. So how many Hail Mary's and Our Father's is it for a vote?

No Steb, what sickboy is referring to, is the U.S. Constitution - its the 3/5 compromise for taxes and voting power of slaves given to the landowner/slave owners. That's what the argument for D of I said it should be. Then the Articles of Confederation were replaced with the ratified U.S. Constitution, it read 3/5 - that's not equal.... If it wasn't, then why the 13th amendment to the United States Constitution....

Please explain... how are the oil companies considered a monopoly?
Lobby dollars and market manipulation to stop or make less desirable an alternative.. What is oil going for a barrel today? Please explain supply and demand to me again but this time include speculation and who gained... AUTOMAGICALLY it's what nearly a third of what it was.... and that's with OPEC cutting 1.5 million barrels a day from production and what a 5% reduction in consumption. Someone passing wind would cause the price of oil to jump $20 dollars a barrel before.
No close substitutes: A monopoly is not merely the state of having control over a product; it also means that there is no real alternative to the monopolised product.

Huh?
US, French, Russian, Israeli and United Nation intelligence agencies all thought the WMD's were there. Iraq had violated numerous conditions of the cease fire agreement from gulf war 1. We were legally and morally justified in taking Hussein out.
But what does that have to do with Obama? When he gave his little speech he had no information regarding what Iraq had or what they might be inclined to do with it. Iraq was known to be looking into way of making terrorist style attacks on the US after 9-11. Did Obama have that information when he opposed the war?

Look up the term "refundable tax credit"
People who aren't paying income taxes do indeed get tax refunds. Obama plans on giving refundable tax credits, not lowering the tax brackets.

Anyone catch the rumors that Obama is considering Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State? Please God let that be just a rumor. She is a light weight on foreign affairs. There are too many much better choices Obama can make.

But I disagreed with even more of McCain's. In my head the lesser of two evils was Obama. Neither is perfect, and anyone who claims they were is rediculous.
What exactly did you disagree with from McCain's proposals...

I agree with you. However, this news article is just a statement of how much influence religion has in the way people think. I doubt very seriously the pope would condone this behavior. His peers don't even seem to agree with it. Like I said, it's sad the people of this church will bow down to the wishes of this priest simply because they fear retribution from the Big Guy if they don't. I guess this would be a dilemma for a person whose a staunch Democrat and a devout Catholic. You have to decide to vote for your present future, or your future in the Great Beyond (if that actually exists).

I see what you're trying to say, (however you do need a new choice of words) because that isn't a monopoly.
With the definition of no close substitutes you can say that demand for the good is inelastic.
The problem with the conspiracy theory gas prices is that there are a lot of different production companies selling the same product. So it isn't differentiated. They all want to sell as much as possible. There is no difference between light sweet crude oil. If exxon or BP is selling it. So the person with the cheeper price is going to sell it first. Then the person with the higher price. And well, I'd walk you through game theory but that would take a while.
I was thinking about this the other day. And well, I think they cried wolf one to many times. As far as the reaction to negative news.

No they didn't stray... others were not considered men in the initial writing of the document.... So they weren't restricted later... but instead not included from the start.... I think Sickboy make a very good and valid point.

I'm sorry but going from all men in 1776 to counting black men as 3/5ths a, when they wrote the consistitution in 1787, as men would constitute a stray imo.

Yeah, I think it did get glossed over. But this is why I personally put so much emphasis on education. We are falling behind educationally, and the only way that moving from production to service will work is if we have the BEST education in the world. But as I hear every day from my wife (high school math teacher), the kids don't try, they can't force them to try per laws enacted, and the parents are not involved in their education and think it is ALL on the teachers. Did you know that in Omaha, and several cities around the country, in grade school and middle school you can't fail a kid? It supposedly hurts their self esteem. So you just keep passing them along without them learning anything! And we wonder why there are so many "stupid" kids out there...
This needs to be an issue of great importance in the next administration.. I believe that both parents, kids, and the education system which includes teachers and administrators...all need to be held accountable... I think part of the problem of the disinterest is that teachers and their bosses need to develop programs that encourgage interest and participation... We too often teach to the tests, which only develops memorazation instead of applied knowledge.
