Hey, it's an extra shift, too! Time and a half, plus $11 an hour. And, I have one 87 yo pt, sedated, chemically paralyzed and on a ventilator. I am code nurse, though so if someone tries to die, I'll be busy enough. It is ultra cool to be paid for being experienced and college educated. Sure beats working for minimum wage at Home Depot!
Plus, I can feel good about what I did at work, not like those Haliburton guys do in Iraq.
Interesting part is, as nurses retire, the cost of us is going to skyrocket!
Geez, O is right. Some people really are bitter!
Bitter? I must have hit a nerve somewhere. Because your constant reference to my part-time job at home depot keeps coming up.
See here is the thing (not that I have to explain it to you because you won't read it) I own my own business. I most likely make more in a year than you do and didn't have to have all the schooling you did. I was just smart enough to figure out how to be the man instead of working for the man. I work Part-time at HD. I have 2 days a week I am scheduled to work. The rest of my schedule is is open. If I feel like going I go in and if not I don't. I do it because I enjoy helping people better their lives and their future....how do I do this? By explain how to fix things they can fix themselves instead of calling the electrician, plumber, painters, or landscape guys. See I save people money in the long run. In return I get compensated for my knowledge by home depot well....(think journeymans electrician pay if you have any idea how much they make) I get my family's health insurance at a much cheaper rate and I earn it. It is not given to me by some state funded or federally funded program. I continue working there because the management team appreciates me and my work ethic (something you should check into) all up to the district level as they are suprised to see such drive and work ethic in PART-TIME employee that they rarely see in a full time guy.
I have been an assistant plant manager for a large finishing shop in Minneapolis for many years before I moved and started my own business.
So you keep taking your shots. That is the difference between you and I. I didn't get a college education. I couldn't afford it, didn't want to take a grant I would have to pay back, and didn't apply for scholarships because I was planning on the militarey as a career. When I got threw a curve ball with the military career I didn't whine, I didn't complain. I took what I had and used it to actually live "the american dream".
As far as home depot goes, I can walk away anytime I want and it won't hurt my lifestyle any....can you say so much about your job....lol.....thought not. Home depot is a hobby, so keep making those cracks...you will just look foolish as that is all you can do but crack on my "hobby"....makes me wonder how far down that nose you look at retail people when you wish to buy something.
