Rep. John Culberson, TX claims the “stimulus” bill must be urgently voted on today — because Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leaving at 6:00 PM for an 8 day trip to Europe! …
Pelosi is hoping to lead a delegation to Europe; there’s a meeting with the Pope and an award from an Italian legislative group.
Show me a link stating she is attending the summit to engage in economic talks. Just one link. I have shown you several for mine. Everything I read contradicts what you are trying to say.
Ok, I found something, her Itinerary for economic talks does NOT begin until MONDAY morning.....No need not to delay to allow time to read the bill.

You asked for one....You will find more about her "award" because the right is apparently overly concerned about this. Why they really care I have no idea. But they all seem to be copy and pasting the SAME story into everyone's little websites. Makes facts and accurate info a little harder to come by. Look the point is she is meeting with Italian lawmakers, troops at our base there, the Pope and yes she is gonig to spend an hour out of an 8 day trip full of meetings regarding the economy. Personally I don't care for her, but I hate one sided innacurate stories

Yes I have, actually lived in Europe for many years. Which perplexes me since she could have postponed her flight from 6 friday evening to 6 saturday evening. Giving the bill more time (closer to the 48 hour mark promised) to be read and scrutinized. Especially by us.
Plus the story states it doesn't expect her to arrive until sunday evening.....How long is THAT flight?

Then you would know that Italians do NOTHING on weekends. I could not even get a massage on Sundays from my Italian massuer. Not to mention that the draft of the bill has been floating around the house and senate for weeks in draft form. I am not saying that what they did was right by breaking a promise...But all that had to be reviewed were the edits. Which in a bill is very easy to do since everything is lined out as a lawsuit would be. Not to mention that the people who vote rarely read anything for themselves anyways...

She is stoping to meet with troops at the air base on her way....Not to mention she was not the only one with plans this weekend. There were several other members who also were leaving town.

Who said I was condoning anything...Personally I dont understand why everyone cares so much about her schedule? Really, you think that letting people read the bill would have made any difference. No it would not. Everyone had already made up their minds before the vote took place, that is my point. I think it's actually rather comical the reactions that this is drawing. People need to be more concerned with the nuts and bolts rather than the trivial. Republicans had already decided to vote against it before it got there and dems had already decided to vote for it. Public comment is more of a musement for them than anything. If you have ever acutally tried to call someone in congress you would see very easily that they really don't care what we think. This is not a democracy. OK NOW i am going to the show.

To my understanding this bill cut out some spending but increased from a little over 700 pages in its original to over 1000 pages. Is the time aloted enough time to read the 300 pages of edits and cross reference them with their corresponding prts? I doubt it. I can read a 300 page book in an hour, but that is a novel not written in legal speak.

If dems had already decided to vote for it, how come 7 members of the house from the democrats side switched their vote to against it? Obviously they got calls from their constituents and switched their vote because of it. Go to your show, have fun. LOL don't let me keep you here.

Apparently I was the only one dressed and ready this morning. So here is my response while I wait.....
If you have looked at it at all its really very easy to read. I got through the first 250 pages in just over an hour. Bills are written like legal documents. The content is VERY easy to reference and the actuall text is only about a 1/4 page worth. It's actually one of the more well written and easy reads I have seen in a while, as far as bills go.

This is the biggest spending bill ever passed by congress. They ram rodded this bill through like it was no big deal. 90 minutes of debate in the house!! WTF That has to the dumbest crap I ever watched on C-Span. I am amazed every time I watch that channel, no wonder the country is in the shape it's in. Why is Acorn getting money out of this bill?? Oh yeah it's for all the dead and underage people they got regestired to vote. This bill has so much pork in it, it has too smell like bacon.

While it may be easy to read I agree, but watching and noting the changes and seeing how those changes came about (example where the money was moved to) and then noting it...not to mention no time to debate why on some of this is my problem.

The reason people care about pelosi's schedule is she used it as an excuse to eliminate any debate on this monstrosity.
I didn't like Bill Clinton but I never feared the government while he was in office because the media held him accountable (and most of his time in the Republicans had control of the legislature). Right now the government scares the living crap out of me because the major media is all in the tank for Obama. Interestingly enough some of the hard core leftist blogs are doing a better job of exposing Obama's double talk and lies than the networks.

The MSM in love with Barry Obama YOU ARE KIDDING RIGHT. LAMFAO. They are the reasons WHY he got elected we have Chris Mathers and Keith Olberman of MSNBC that basically no longer need a wife whenevet they see Obama on screen or get close to him anymore it seems. The you have the hatchet jobs that they did to Sarah Palin during the Race if they had treated Obama like that there is no way in hell he could have come close to winning. The MSM refused to investigate ACORN til it was basically rammed UP their rear ends by the bloggers refused to cover Bill Ayers who BTW is as BAD in the 60' and 70's as Bin Laden is NOW when it comes to doing bombings. Yet he can walk around free as a fraking bird and no one will touch him because he is the Presidents Friend now.
The scandal that took down Blago here in IL is and will make Obama very uncomfortable soon I think. Why you ask Blago has young kids and he is looking at right now 30 years however the Grand jury could give him LIFE without Parole on everything he will want to cut a deal and hard. Blago will sing and sing hard and bring down everyone in the Chicago and Cook county Machines to save his butt all the way UP to the President he has nothing to loose he has already lost everything he does not care.

Iron Eagle... I don't mind you giving your oppinion, but I have two requests. Whether you like it or not he is the President now. Please spell his name correctly, it makes you sound either like a 3rd grader or just plain ignorant. Don't compare Bill Ayers to Osama Bin Laden. Some of us know people that were in the trade center or at the Pentagon. Thats a slap in the face for some people.
