here's some pics of how far along i am....i finished the welding and installed the 3/4 wood floor into the frame and then installed the 135 gallon tank im going to be using for my wet/dry filter....tomorrow ill be installing the partitions into the tank for the different stages and then finishing up the other legs and upper cross beams.

I'm sure you have already thought of this, but were you worried at all about the tile cracking under any of the legs for the stand? I can't imagine how much this whole thing is going to weigh, and concentrating that into 4 points might do a number on your nice floor.

yes....i've thought of that already....thats why the weight is being distributed between 10 legs instead of 4....i havent added the other three front legs because i wouldnt be able to have gotten the sump in if i did that....after everything is set up ill add the front legs which will help distribute the total weight....thanx for the concern though and if you see anything else that might look wrong please dont hesitate to let me know....this is my frist time doing this.

is the 135 sitting completely on the frame? how will you get it out if there's a leak or a problem?

Wow, Are you prepared to do 100 gallon water changes every 2 to 4 weeks? I am getting a new 156 gallon but won't get a bigger tank as I cannot buy and carry enough saltwater to keep a bigger tank clean with giant water changes not to mention keeping the plexiglass clean on such a big tank. Won't that tank take about 10 hours a week to keep up? Well, maybe you can swim in your tank with the fish when you do the cleaning!
Good luck and we want lots and lots of pictures!

I was wondering the same thing. Water changes are going to be a pain in the rear.
I also was thinking you should probably put some cross beam supports for under the tank so the middle doesnt have the possibility to sag.

Yes, its sitting completly on the frame. if it ever does leak i have left enough room to remove it from the end. it would be a pain but it will be ablr to be removed. as for the water changes im not worried about it. ill get what i need to do it. the stand isnt complete yet, there will be more added after i set up the sump. you'll see....

Ohhhhh, I see the back legs now. I must have just glossed over them figuring it was just frame and didn't reach the floor. The only thing I can think of (but it's really a non-issue at this point) is I don't see a floor drain. The frame looks bulletproof, but in the event of something catastrophic, 648 gallons is ALOT of water to deal with. The other thing disconcerting about this setup is that as a graphic artist I'll never be able to afford anything as badass as this.

im building the sump and refuge out of my 135 gallon(i think its a big enough sump). waiting for silicone to dry and the g4x skimmer to arrive before i finish the stand and put the tank up. ill take some pics of the sump and where i'm at tomorrow and post them.

You have a sweet set up and I do not mean to be negative but I would use a shallower sump. You are already comitted in spending thousand of dollars building that tank. Or even getting two sumps and connecting them. It would be alot easier to work with and you can set up a really good fuge.

Wow.. nice. But way too big for me. It costs me $2.48 a week to do my water changes and for now that's how I like it.
