LOL me too,,, mu husband bought me a new one thinking that would make me "know" how to do lots of tailoring stuff for his uniforms, lol
I can hem and sew a straight line.. and moderetly follow a pattern .... but sewing with elastic or stretchy stuff has eluded me all these years, lol
I have done stretchy waistbands in skirts and shorts...I think if I remember right...I stretched the material as I went and when it went back to its original form and bunched up all was good. That way the waist could go to it's limit. Stretchy material now, that's new for me. LOL...Maybe I will just put the band around the tank and pull the material tight under it and let it hold it in place, like I do the trash bag on the can kind of thing....no sewing.

OH OH a velcro piece to hold it .... use whatever banding and put velcro on both sides :)
then you could have the band around the tank and just shimmy it on up or velcro it on.. (that may take more than one hand?)

LOL...men use duct tape and women use velcro.
The tank has a rim, the band would stay just under the lip, and the material would be trapped under the rim and held there by the band...it's the lazy way but it would work I think. I might be able to hand sew it in place and then swap the front with the back and finish it.

Sick or dying potbelly horse!
Spot (smaller male)was spinning around and around, I noticed him from across the room...the other horses are fine so it isn't the water. He swam across the tank and tries to hitch and then falls over, he tries to upright himself and falls over again...he takes off and swims across the tank and grabs a hitch and again falls over.
There are no wounds, and just this morning he has been swimming to the top of the tank with Freckles the larger female. They inflate their tummies normally to impress the females, and he did so to court Freckles... but his does not look like it's inflatted right now as he struggles.

I used Seachem test kits.....Parameters:
SG...a little low 1.023
Temp 66.9
PH- 8.0
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrates- 0
Phosphates- 0
I don't have enough regent to test alkalinity
The other horses are not stressed, and obviously it isn't the water.....Is there anything I can do?

Spot the potbelly seahorse is okay! He was swimming just fine, hitching upright and eating. I THINK he was twitterpated, a nice silly way of saying he and Freckles were ...ummm...getting in the family way...LOL Whew...but that will mean that in 30 days I will have babies if they went about doing things right. O.O

That's great news. Hey, if they have in fact started to get in the family way, let me know. And I'll set up a nursery tank and have you ship the next batch of fry to me (not this one LOL) and I'll see if I can raise some. I know how you hate it if they get sucked away!! I figure we live close enough that it may work

That would be so cool if you could get someone to raise the babies! One day I want to try to raise some besides dwarf.

My tank looked foggy this morning...The AC is running, I wiped it with a papertowel and thankfully the water is crystal clear. I have the sump and back of the tank insulated to keep the water cold and not work my chiller to death. What can I do about the condensation? I don't see any water driplets, just that foggy look to the glass....

I got my mesh material stretched around the canopy. it looks like the best method is to hand sew it while it's stretched. I sewed one end thus far, the rest is pinned until I can finish. I will post some pictures once I finish sewing it. It doesn't block the light, and the mesh is too fine for a fish of any size to jump thru. I will fix the back opening last.

Please post pics of how you did it! I would be interested in seeing it!
Mesh topper pictures....

I took this pic so you can see how transparent it is.

LOL...My hand sewing job

Finished product

I removed the hinged top some time ago since I hang my lights. I kept the piece but have to date not wanted to replace it. So this method will work on a tank with a canopy (hinged top removed) or without stretched over the rim. Over a canopy allows for the HOB items...I still need to figure out what I want to do to close off the very back.

Very nice job!!!!
Thanks...I forgot the pics as I work...it was only the same pictures except it had pins in it..but here is one of the ends as I had left it last night, before pulling the canopy off and finishing today.. I think there could be a market for this, I would buy one in a heart beat.
