Yes there are a lot of deadbeat parents out there. So when the other parent raising the children is not making any money they may or may not qualify for cash assistance. However they can't just keep having children and receiving more and more cash. Once they have received the assistance one time, every other child born after that is not allowed to receive any benefits at any time. And I highly doubt they are using it for their cigarrete habit primarily. Cash is only about 100 dollars per person, so 3 people are receiving and they only get 347 a month (one parent and two children). If they make more than that gross per month, they don't qualify for the cash assistance anymore. Must really be great for the families that have no jobs right now and children to support huh??
that irony is not lost on me.
but I think this is a subject we are going to have to agree to disagree on. the convinience store I work at is right next to goverment assisted living housing. 90% of the people that come in their waste their food stamps and cash "assistance" on just the things I have mentioned. and it really pisses me off to no end to see these people squandering a helping hand up, and turning it into a free ride.
just yesterday I heard one person say "my case worker wants me to try and get a job but I think i am going to file for disability so I dont have to work."
I dare anyone, to go down to a convinience store located very close to any government funded housing and hang out for one hour, then come back and tell me you didnt see lots of people doing these very things.
