those making above 250k will only taxed $12 more !!! If your HHI is 600k+ then will feel the pain of higher taxes but if you are making that much money you can afford to pay more in taxes.

YES
they do, food stamps come with food stamps, AND a cash allotment. Why they need the cash allotment I'll never know. you obviously are trying to argue a point you have no first hand expirience with.
and others sell the use of their food stamp card for 50cents cash on the dollar.
I think you need a real wake up about what really happens with the welfare system.

For those of you claiming that all or even a majority of low income people are beating the system living the "good life", get out of your cushy homes and head downtown to Chicago / Cleveland / Detroit and work a soup kitchen. Tell me the percentage of Escalades you see with big rims? Not many...more likely there are chrome rims with spinners on a 1988 Corolla but that is another crime all together.
Moral of this post, some low income people are beating the system but a hell of a lot more middle and upper class are taking advantage of it too. I would imagine some posters on this thread fit that bill.
the people we are refferring to are doing just that, you wont meet most of these at a soup kitchen, though there are many that go to those soup kitchens because it is a way of life for them, an event in their social calander 1 hour a day for a weeks worth of groceries AND a fresh hot meal. I wish I could go get a weeks worht of groceries for an hours work.
My mother runs the Stone soup kitchen
for belfast maine and I have helped her out many times I refuse to go help anymore because many (not all by any stretch) but many of these people complain when there is only one bag of groceries per person. if you price all the stuff in that one grocery bag your looking at about $40 to $50 for free and they complain. I wish I got $40 for an hour of socializing, you cant really call it work. and they can go get this every day 6 days a week. $40x6=$240 worht of groceries for free. tell me that coupled with food stamps, and fuel assistance, and free medical care doesnt add up to one cushy life style, all they have to do is not work and show up at a few places and hang out with all their friends, and everything they need gets payed for by your and my tax money.

I will tell you that there are very few people driving around in Escalades. We report them to investigators if they are because obviously they are making more than they are reporting.
What happens to them at that point?
I'm a second gen american, my grandparents nationalized when they were younger. When they moved here, they had to sign papers saying they wouldn't be a burdon to the state, making them inelligable to recieve federal aid. I think it is a good idea, to bad democrats wouldn't let that fly today.

Back on track:
Clem,
Here's another LIBERAL democrat showing how bad she is. Madonna. There is some language in the video, and I wonder if I said those things about Obama if the "truth squad" would get me.

I sure hope you get back here to try and defend yourself against the truth, and facts, but since when have they mattered to a democrat.

What about the increase in the cap on the medicare tax? That alone will cost me almost 10% more.

No it won't, because the wonderful budget defecit the democrats harped about the past 8 years is no longer an issue. Obama's estimated 288 billion dollar deficit per year is not a big deal. After all who cares about the future of this country and our children when we can be given free crap now.

Make sure you know what you are talking about before you tell people what you believe to be facts. Food stamps do NOT come with a cash allotment. That is an entirely different program called cash assistance. Cash assistance is in place of child support for a child in the home with a parent absent. Once the absent parent is found (and no they are not always found) they are required to pay back to the state what was alloted to the other parent as cash assistance. They are both federal programs.
Yes people do sell their food stamps sometimes. They get caught, are charged with food stamp fraud, and can never receive benefits again. Anything over 2000.00 is a trip to jail.

It is usually documented in their case and if they cannot explain logically how their bills are being paid and back it up with proof then their case gets denied. Over and over and over. 1+1 has to equal 2.

I stand corrected. my assesment wasn't completely accurate.
the taxpayers are supporting some deadbeat dads childs ciggarette and gambeling habits....... so much better.

ReefRaff, you may disagree with everything I say...
But one thing I will agree with you on, is that you have the best avatar of all time. That clownfish's face is priceless...

Well thank you, thank you very much but it's just a cut and paste of a poster from the nemo movie but it went well with the reefer.

Yes there are a lot of deadbeat parents out there. So when the other parent raising the children is not making any money they may or may not qualify for cash assistance. However they can't just keep having children and receiving more and more cash. Once they have received the assistance one time, every other child born after that is not allowed to receive any benefits at any time. And I highly doubt they are using it for their cigarrete habit primarily. Cash is only about 100 dollars per person, so 3 people are receiving and they only get 347 a month (one parent and two children). If they make more than that gross per month, they don't qualify for the cash assistance anymore. Must really be great for the families that have no jobs right now and children to support huh??

that irony is not lost on me.
but I think this is a subject we are going to have to agree to disagree on. the convinience store I work at is right next to goverment assisted living housing. 90% of the people that come in their waste their food stamps and cash "assistance" on just the things I have mentioned. and it really pisses me off to no end to see these people squandering a helping hand up, and turning it into a free ride.
just yesterday I heard one person say "my case worker wants me to try and get a job but I think i am going to file for disability so I dont have to work."
I dare anyone, to go down to a convinience store located very close to any government funded housing and hang out for one hour, then come back and tell me you didnt see lots of people doing these very things.
