yeah i will do.. so bascailly nothing can be by my frogspwan?.. not even mushrooms.. NOTHING?..
and 2 be honest bro i think if i raise my heat to 82.. and keep it at 82 at night.. i think once the lights kick on it will still make it go higher...
i have not yet tried a FAN to blow away.. but im scared im going to get naaasty evap. I already havea terrible time with it.. doesnt bother me .. except on weekends it owns me when i get back andmy water level is VERY low..
p.s just looked at the temp... 82.6 .. GRR!!!!!!!!!!!! .. lights are about to go out..

okie i just came back into the office to mess around with the tank right now and check on the temp since the lights have been off for 3 hours and its at exactly 81.3 ..

i finally got my lit fuge going.. (i know i have way to much water in there but i overfill it on Fridays because of the evaporation i get)


submersed the light about 1-2 inches under..
anddddddddd started on my top (which im nervous about)


it of course is not done, but i just cut out a rough of it and since i only have siccors its hard to set it EXACT... i put my lights on top of it (which of course raised it about half an inch or so) but im nervous of it being to hot on there so i took the top off for the time being since im not around to monitor it. I get the feeling that it is also dimming my tank a bit .. ah im so confused and annoyed right now.. i gatta get away from this ----.. cant wait to get my temp figured out so i can move on. The tank is pretty much ready to go as soon as i can get my temp situated, i will start to move over my coral from my 12 gal into this 24 and get my little fat boy neemo over too.
I guess my next option will be to bring out the fan and see how that works out.
EDIT: just turned to 81.5 ..(lights are off/etc)... hmm it may be the temp of the room?.. i highly doubt it because it is NOT at all hot in here.. nor is it cold ..

That really seems to be cutting down on the amount of light not directly under the bulb. Any possibility of using the same screening that spanko used? I think he said something about pond netting?

yeah.. i figured this would have been easier.. he warned me about using eggcrate, and told me b4 hand it may block light but i went with it to try first hand... grr..

is hanging the lights from the ceiling an option? I know its in your office but that could help because you would be able to keep the lights farther from the tank which would cut the heat

its frustrating, i know. Hang in there, you will find a solution to your heat issues. Tank is looking good though. I would look into the screen instead of eggcrate.

glad i didnt waste 2 much time on this eggcrate.. lol.. as far as hanging the lights.. i do have a hanger kit.. HMM?.. maybeeeeee?

i wasted so much time on eggcrate cutting it with scissors and getting plastic shrapnel everwhere and then i found out i could use the cutting edge on pliers and it was quick and cleaner.
I saw a DIY screen kit at home depot that might be an option for you.

Hey man nice tank! I might get the same light as you, not too sure about it though.
In the back did you just add Cheato in a cup, placed it in the middle chamber and added that light on top? Is that all I need to do or is there something else?

i personally got a paperclip lit it till it was hot enoiugh to poke holes allllll around the cup (make sure you use somthing to put the cheato in because apparently this stuff will spread all over the place).. and i cracked the sides as well to let water flow in/out between it..
as far as that Marina Light.. WHISK had recommended it to me, i got it on the spot.. i have not been able to give it a review as its been up for 2 days now.. WHISK would probabaly be a better guy to ask as far as the performance of the light.. i find it pretty cool that it is fully submersible .. i run mine 24 hours a day.. it never comes off and since its under the water it doesnt give any light spill.
HOWEVER
the research i did on the light i found only 2 which were BOTH NEGATIVE and they were BOTH looking for a new light.. i personally think it should be enough to get the job done.

i also have some Chemi-Pure in the middle chamber .. read the thread above.. feel free to ask nano-n00b any questions.. hes been a cool guy and i doubt heel bite.. haha..

i dont know as i dont go in to work on Fridays and ihave no checked up on it this weekend.. haha
aanddddd NO that is not a slurpee cup.. what am i? an idiot?... its a taco bell fruit freeze cup... duh!.. hahaha
i went to the LFS and then i went stright to my office and i had noooooo cups.. all i had was taco bell right next door so i went in and asked for a cup.. haha!
all the cups i have at work are styrofoam(sp?)

haha.. lets hope everything will go smooth this week and i dont walk into the office tomorrow morning and half my tank water evap. and temp at 94 -_- .. grrr

woke up today to a alage bloom..


temp was at 79.5 when i got it.. wheni topped the water off it dropped to 79.2 ... lets see what we hit at the end of the day ...

oh and i put the paper under the legs for about a 1" lift .. lets see how she does.
